Narrative
Nerves formed in the pit of Mikayla's stomach as Carlise and Catalina led them into the living room. Dinner was quite good, but they knew there was a lingering question in the air. What were the Laytons?
"Mikayla, I know you'd like to know why we invited you all over for dinner. Those pies you gave us weren't regular pies, were they?" Catalina asked. The Layton family looked around at the Cullens, staring at them, waiting for them to answer. They didn't look mad or upset, just curious. Except Rosalie, she glared at them. If they were what she thought they were, and they could be a possible threat.
Mikayla switched to the left in the chair to get more comfortable. "I suppose you found out about the pies rather quickly. She told them, smiling.
"Well, only a special kind of....being would be able to tell." Rosalie said, glaring at her hard. "So, what kind of being are you?" Bella asked quietly.
Cassie glared back at Rosalie. She didn't like how she was looking at them, like they were the bad guys. Even though they had every right to be curious. What was the point of the Cullens inviting them over if they were just going to be rude?
Mikayla cleared her throat and smiled gently. "We are just like you. But, the reason you couldn't tell immediately is because we're only half. Half-human, half-vampire." She said, shocking everyone instead of Rosalie. She scoffed and crossed her arms.
Cassie clenched her jaw and gave her a deathly glare, waiting for her to try something. Carlise and Catalina exchanged apologetic glances with Cassie. And, told Rosalie to stop and control herself.
"H-how is that possible? We've never heard anything like that. How were you turned?" Carlise asked lowly.
"Well, we were born while my mother was still human. We were born in 1783. Our father was a very powerful vampire.....the very first vampire created."
They were so perplexed. Never have they heard anything like this. Their father, the first ever vampire ever created? Carlise and wondered if Volturi knew about this. They must have powerful abilities.
The Layton family told the Cullens more about themselves, down to the last detail. Except for what happened to their parents. They weren't ready to tell that. The Cullens seemed to be very fascinated by them, again, except for Rosalie. Maybe she was being a little bit overprotective, but she thought something was off about them.
