-Narrative-
Lavender woke up feeling dizzy and disoriented, touched the wound on the back of her head, and slowly sat up, trying to figure out where she was in a dark room that seemed to be in some sort of castle.
Everything was dark, even the walls. There were black-lit candles illuminating the room, and that's when shock and relief spread over her face when she saw her cousins in the corner of the room strapped onto chairs.
She ran over to them, tears streaming down her face. Omg, are you guys okay?! " They gave pained expressions, except for Beau, who hung his head low with a few drops of tears falling on his pants. "My family-they were killed. And I went by your house, and no one was there. And why are we here? "
Cassie looked up with anger prevalent on her face. "Our mother is dead! And we couldn't do anything about it." Beau was so furious that he shook in his chair. While Mariah and Mikayla stared into nothingness.
Lavender looked at her cousins with sadness, knowing that the same thing had happened to them. She placed her hand on Mikayla's leg, gaining her attention from the wall she was staring at. "Mikayla, do you know who could have done this?" Beau raised his head up and looked at her, and Mikayla said, "There's something you should know, Lav; we aren't who you thought we were."
Lavender looked at them in confusion. What was she talking about? "What do you mean?" She asked. Mikayla began to speak again. "Our parents thought it would be best if you didn't know who we really were. At least not until you were older," she said slowly.
Lavender started to get agitated and grumbled, "WELL SPIT IT OUT!" Cassie shot her head up at Lavender and said, "we're Vampires, Lavender." Always have been." Cassie said.
Lavender screwed up her face with disgust, as if she just heard the stupidest thing on the planet. Cassie continued, "Hybrids. Half human, half Vampire." She said, looking Lavender in the eyes.
Lavender stood up angry and yelled, "DO YOU ACTUALLY THINK IMMA BELIEVE THAT BULLSHIT!? This isn't a game! I just lost my WHOLE FAMILY TODAY! and you all just lost YOUR MOTHER! For God's sake, you can't be serious!" She yelled at them, breathless.
Cassie shook in her chair and showed her fangs, but Beau calmed her down so she wouldn't scare Lavender. Mikayla spoke into Lavender's mind, "This isn't a joke, Lav; we're so sorry we kept this from you. But we were doing what we thought was best." Mikayla said, with tears falling down her cheeks.
"Our mother fell in love with a very powerful vampire and gave birth to us while she was still human. She would always tell us that he left to protect us. Our Aunts and other cousins are vampires too; our mom turned them, not by force but because they wanted to stay together forever. Your parents and our mother made a decision not to tell you until you were old enough to understand. We've always wanted to tell you, but we wanted to protect you from the dangers of our world. We're so sorry, Lav." Mikayla finished, hiccuping from crying so much.
Lavender backed up with fear; she felt like the room was spinning. Her cousins are vampires. Everything she ever knew was a lie; this has to be a joke, right? She felt like she was going to vomit. How could they hide something like this from her? She looked at her cousins in disbelief-those magical beings that she thought only existed in children's books. She stared at them with horror.
Cassie sensed her fear and finally said, "We would never hurt you, Lavender," as tears poured down her face. "We love you. Please trust us; we've got to stick together; we're all that is left." Cassie said, pleading for Lavender to walk towards them.
Lavender looked into their eyes and slowly walked towards them, crouched down, and placed her head on Mikayla's lap. And the little family comforted each other in the best way they could.
