"SHHH YOULL WAKE HER UP" Sahana whisper shouts at me as I try to silently get the pan of cupcakes out of the oven.
Why are we making cupcakes at 6am you may ask? Well it's simple, it's Anna's birthday and since we'll be busy at school all day and then planning her party after school, we decided to wake her up with a cupcake for breakfast.
We let the cupcakes cool then frost and decorate them. I check the time.
"It's 6:43, her alarm will be going off in three minutes!" I quietly squeal. Sahana gives me a confused look.
"Mari, her alarm goes off at 6:45" she says.
"I know! Three more minutes!" I say
"I- okay" she says,
We both get on either side of her bed and lean over anna's face. Sahana has a cupcake with a lot candle sitting in the palm of her hand. Her alarm goes off and her eyes flutter open. She scream when she sees us.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY BESTIE" Sahana and I scream back.
"Aww guys" she says "thank you!!" She sits up and takes cupcake, blowing the candle out.
"What do you wish for?" I eagerly asks. She smiles and blushes a little.
"Well I can't tell you, that's the rule" she says.
"Uugggghhh" I groan.
"Come on we have to get ready" Sahana says. "I told Luke and Alex that we'd meet the gang for breakfast." Anna smiles. As we've established, she loves being the center of attention so she probably thinks this breakfast is for her. But little does she know, everyone else is gonna pretend it's not her birthday then we have a surprise party for her tonight. Our one concern is that she's gonna tell everyone it's her birthday rather than wait for them to wish her a happy birthday. Fingers crossed our plan works though.
Anna's POV
I eat my cupcake and hurry out of bed to get ready.
I throw on a cute cropped sweatshirt and a pair of ripped jeans.

Then I go into the bathroom to curl my hair and do my makeup. Today is special and I have to look amazing cause obviously a lot of people are going to be staring at me all day.
"Almost ready?" Sahana ask, entering the bathroom.
"Yeah I just gotta finish up my mascara" I say as a stare into the mirror and meticulously finish my bottom lashes.
"I was told we have to be to breakfast in 20 minutes so we have to leave in five" she says.
"Ok I'm ready" I say. We all grab our stuff and pile in the car.
I drive because, well, I want to make us a little late. Gotta have that fashionably late entrance on my birthday.
When we pull into the parking lot sahana and Mari rush out of the car. "Anna! You made us late!" Mari whines.
"Oops" I say innocently.
We get inside the cute little cafe and see all our friends already sitting at a table talking. I smile, waiting for them to notice me. They don't. But they notice sahana and Mari.
"Sahana! Over here!" Alex calls, waving her over.
"Mari look at the menu here!" Julie calls.
No one acknowledges me as I quietly sit at the end of the table.
Everyone is in their own little conversations. Sahana is talking Alex and willie while Mari talks to Julie and flynn and Reggie talks to Luke and Noah. I just sit uncomfortably, feeling out of place. Do they even remeber it's my birthday? Reggie won't even talk to me which hurts the most.
So far this is the worst birthday ever.
Reggie's POV
I lean over to Luke "look how sad she is. Can I please talk to here? This is killing me" I whisper.
"Dude, not yet. Don't worry, it'll be worth it later tonight" he whispers.
"Okay" I say with a sigh.
"Hey I'm Sam, what can I get for you?" Our waitress says. Everyone goes around and orders until it gets to Anna.
"Um I'll have French toast" she says quietly. The waitress walks away after saying she'll be back shortly. Luke nudges my arm and I reluctantly stick to the plan.
"Oh hey anna, I didn't see you there" I say. This hurts. I know she hates this.
"Hey Reg" she says softly, it looks like she's about to cry. I can't do this anymore I have to tell her the truth. I open my mouth to speak but Luke discreetly kicks me in the shin under the table.
Anna takes a deep breathe before talking again "well since I have everyone's attention, I wanted to say that willie and I are going to the mall after classes today and anyone who wants to come is welcome"
"CANT I HAVE PLANS" Luke, Mari, Noah, sahana, Alex, Flynn and I all yell at the same time.
"Oh um okay then" she says, shrinking back in her seat. I can't.
"Maybe we can get together tomorrow?" I say, in attempt to make things a little better. She gives me a weak smile before looking at the ground.
I turn back to see the seven, glaring at me. I shrug and mouth "what?"
We get our food and eat in a short ammount of time.
"Class starts soon, we better get going"Alex says.
We all say our goodbyes and head back to campus.
I hated ignoring Anna today. I just hope Luke is right about everything being worth it tonight.
I really hated doing that to myself in this chapter y'all. I would cry if this happened irl. Like seriously.
