I decided to write a Lord of the Rings chapter first since there isn't nearly enough agere content in this fandom, and I love Legolas so I had to write a little Leggy story eventually
Summary:
Little Legolas - age 2-3
Caregiver Aragorn - Pa
Legolas slips after he, Aragorn, and Gimli make camp for the night. They take good care of him. They had just finished setting up camp for the night, the trio nestled under a cliffs edge to protect them from the weather. A fire was already flickering in the middle of their set up.
Legolas sat by the fire watching Gimli put together a quick dinner for the three them. The elf kept two of his fingers tucked securely into his mouth. It was a comfort for the elfling. Neither Aragorn nor Gimli knew what it was about putting things into his mouth that calmed Legolas so much but something about it did.
"Hello there, little leaf." Aragorn chuckled seeing Legolas staring absentmindedly at his friend.
It did not surprise the ranger in the slightest to see that Legolas had regressed, or that he had done it so quickly. It had been quite sometime since there had been an opportunity for him to do so, and tonight seemed to be perfect. There was no sign of any coming danger, aside from a light drizzle of rain, the night was clear.
Legolas smiled around his fingers when he saw his caregiver, "Pa!"
Aragorn smiled, and gently removed Legolas' fingers from his mouth, "You shouldn't put your fingers in your mouth, meleth nin. They may appear to be clean but I can assure you they aren't as clean as you may think."
Legolas scrunched his nose. Even in the mindset of a much, much younger elf, he much rather preferred to be clean. The thought of dirty fingers in his mouth did not sit well with him, though it would likely be forgotten within a few minutes.
"Would you like me to search your pack for your soother?" Aragorn asked, gently running his fingers through his elfling's hair.
Legolas quickly nodded. It was true that he hadn't much need to worry for the night, but he certainly had much built up from the last time he had been able to regress. He needed that simple comfort.
"Wait here. I will return shortly." Aragorn placed a gentle kiss on Legolas' forehead before heading off to find the wooden teething toy.
Legolas sat in his place for a few moments but quickly grew bored of sitting alone. His friend preparing stew soon caught his attention again. He quickly got up to join the dwarf and investigate what he was doing. The elfling sat himself down next to his friend.
Though the two teased and taunted each other relentlessly when Legolas was in his normal state of mind Gimli had grown rather fond and protective of the little elfling. Legolas rather enjoyed Gimli's company as well.
"I think I've got a wee elf attached to my leg." Gimli smiled.
Legolas giggled at the dwarf's comment. He looked over at what Gimli was making. It didn't seem that hard, perhaps he could help.
"Help?" Legolas asked, hoping for something to do.
"Don't think so elfling. Yer Pa'll have my head if you get a burn on ya." Gimli smiled and placed a strong hand a top Legolas' head to tussle his hair.
Legolas giggled again and swatted Gimli's hand away. As much as it displeased him to have his hair messed up in such a way the simple gesture of affection never ceased to make him smile.
Gimli glanced back to Aragorn who had returned to his and Legolas' prior spot, "Go on and sit with yer Pa. I'll bring supper in a little while." The dwarf said calmly.
Legolas nodded and ran off to sit with Aragorn. He sat himself on his caregiver's lap and cuddled up to him. Aragorn smiled and handed him the wooden toy.
"Would you like for me to fix your hair, little leaf?" Aragorn asked, noticing the damage Gimli had done to elfling's braids.
"Yes, Pa." Legolas agreed, putting the toy into his mouth.
Aragorn smiled and began gently undoing Legolas' braids. He gently brushed his fingers through the boy's hair, undoing the damage the dwarf had done, and braiding his blond hair. The elfling grew tired, the gentle motions lulling him to sleep.
"The lad gonna keep his eyes open long enough to eat?" Gimli chuckled seeing the sleepy expression dawning on the elfling's face.
"I'm certain he will stay awake for his supper." Aragorn replied.
Legolas leaned back against Aragorn's chest while the ranger spooned the broth into his mouth. The elfling turned away halfway through his supper. He was far too tired to finish.
"Are you getting tired, little one?" Aragorn asked.
"Tired Pa." Legolas yawned.
"Then let us go to bed, meleth nin." Aragorn picked up the little elfling in his arms.
Legolas cuddled closer to Aragorn, allowing the man to carry him to their bedrolls. It wasn't long before Legolas was settled in bed, drifting off to sleep.
Aragorn placed a gentle kiss on the elfling's forehead, "Goodnight, little leaf."
