Regressor Vax (2-5) and Caregiver Percy
Vax comes to Percy for help fixing a toy. Percy has a better idea than tryin to fix the mangled mess of wood and metal.
"Percy?" Vax peaked into the room.
He's not supposed to go in there unless Percy says because it's dangerous. At least Percy says it's dangerous. Vax doesn't get it though. He's never gotten hurt in there before. Well, except for that time that he cut his hand on some scrap metal, or the time he accidentally burned his arm, or when he dropped one of the tools on his foot and insisted he had to be carried for the next two days. But that was only three times.
"Come in, Vax." Percy said.
Vax pushed the door open the rest of the way and ran to Percy's side. He fumbled a little with the items in his hands. There were just too many pieces.
"Freddy fix it?" Vax asked, dropping a pile of wood and metal onto Percy's desk.
"Darling, I make guns. That doesn't mean I can fix anything you break." Percy said looking over at the broken... Toy? Was it a toy? What had Vax done to it?
Percy picked it up, examining it. It seemed it was a broken windup toy of some kind. It looked like it had been chewed on and a few pieces had been broken off.
"Fix please." Vax pointed to the pile.
"I... don't think I can fix this. But I may be able to find you a new one." Percy said with a gentle smile, "Whatever it is... Darling, what is it?"
He looked it over again, trying to figure out what it had originally been. It looked like an animal but he couldn't make our any ears and the tail seemed to be missing. A cat perhaps? Maybe a bear. It would be like his Vex'ahlia to get her brother a bear.
"Doggy!" Vax said excitedly, pointing to the remains of the toy. "New doggy!"
Percy chuckled softly and nodded. "Alright, then. Come on, let's go get you a new dog." He said.
"Doggy!" Vax exclaimed, jumping up and down in excitement.
Percy smiled and grabbed his coat. He helped Vax put his cloak on. Vax held his hand as they walked through the streets to a small toy shop.
"Doggy, Percy. Doggy!" Vax said, pointing to a display of windup toys.
"Oh, wow. Look at all these." Percy said, looking at the array of brightly colored, windup toys. "Let's go in, Darling."
"Lord de Rolo, what can we do for you today?" the shopkeeper said with a slight bow.
"Vax'ildan, would you like to tell her what you want?" Percy asked, looking down at the boy who had knelt down in front of a shelf of toys.
"Doggy!" Vax said, looking at the clerk with wide eyes.
The shopkeeper smiled warmly at Vax. "Well, let's see what we can find for you, little one." She said, walking over to the shelf and picking out a wind-up toy in the shape of a dog, black with little gold details. "How about this one?"
Percy smiled. "That looks perfect. Vax, what do you think?"
Vax's eyes lit up with delight. "Doggy!" He said, reaching out to take it from the clerk.
Percy chuckled and reached into his pocket. "We'll take it. Thank you for your help." He said, handing over a few coins.
The clerk smiled and nodded. "Of course. Enjoy your new doggy, Vax." She said, watching as they walked out of the shop.
Once they were outside, Percy knelt down and handed the toy to Vax. "Be careful with it, okay? You don't want this one to get broken too."
Vax nodded. "Careful, Percy. Doggy be careful." He said, cradling the toy in his arms, "Show Vex! Wanna show Vex doggy!"
"Alright, let's go home and show your sister." Percy said, taking Vax's hand.
