Kyōtani POV
Another exciting day! Today we'll be able to do more activities since the kids will be awake early, we only got do the tour yesterday because they came late. Yahaba is a nice partner too and is having fun with the boys, who seem to like him a lot.
I never did good with people outside of camp, but having him along is nice. He seems to be genuinely growing fond to the camp and having fun, and that makes me happy.
Soon, our cabin came down to the plaza in fresh clothes with their chaperone, who seemed responsible.
"Mrs. Kiyoko made us wake up early," one of the boys groaned, rubbing his eyes tiredly, the three chuckled at him.
Soon, the bell rang, some of the girls were given the opportunity to ring the gigantic bell. Around three of them were holding the gigantic rope and shook it around.
"Let's go eat!! I'm starving!" One of the boys groaned and began leading the group to the cafeteria, "Guess you just lost your job to a kid," Yahaba whispered to me with a chuckle.
I nudged him playfully in the shoulder with my elbow as we walked through the cafeteria doors. For breakfast, it was fluffy pancakes with syrup and a side of bacon. The food here was amazing and nostalgic for me. Again, I sat by Yahaba at a small table, this time we actually had a conversation.
I had fun with him.
////
For our first activity, I brought our group to the animal building. There were different birds in one room and rodents in another room. All the kids got to hold them, their faces filled with curiosity and excitement.
I got to tell them about each individual animal, because believe it or not, I'm a major animal nerd. Growing up, I would always research animals and ask my mom for one, the only one I got was a pet Pomeranian named KyōKen.
Another activity we did, was we got to paint and decorate our own rocks and put them into our small garden. My rock is still there to this day, which always made me happy.
All of them had their own unique designs, most of them putting things that interested him. Sports, instruments, animals, books, etc.
Then, our last activity before lunch, was fishing. Most of the kids were grossed out by the worms, so I had to hook it on for them. Only one kid, who is an "Experienced Fisher" caught one successfully, but we released it after.
Yahaba wasn't the biggest fan of the smell of lake water, which I found funny.
////
"God I'm exhausted," Yahaba complained as he sat down in his usual dining spot, I chuckled, "Couldn't relate,".
He gave me a small smirk, "You really like this place, hm?" he asked and I nodded, "Its kinda my safe place." There was a small caring smile on his face, which made my ears burn.
"So~! Was wondering if you wanted to hang out by the lake later?" Yahaba asking me, twirling his fries around in ketchup. I let out an, "Eh" sound and tilted my head to the side slightly, why does he wanna hang out with me-?
He simply shrugged and placed his cheek into his palm, keeping his eyes down at the food.
"Sure..?" I agreed, making his face look up at me with a smile, "Alrighty!".
Then, it was time to clean up and start heading back out.
////
The day was finally finished, all the kids should be asleep by now. Me and Yahaba walk back down, this time we went to the lake. It was sunset, so the lake was glittering as it reflected the light of the sun.
We sat down on the boat deck, Yahaba staring deep into the water.
"So, what did you wanna talk about?" I ask him and he just shrugged, "Just wanted to talk I guess, my 'friend' is being kinda annoying..."
I nodded and kicked the water with my sneakers. It was silent for a while, but Yahaba started a conversation between us.
"So, what's your life back at home?"
Fin.
