Does Jessica have a gift?

We was all taken by surprise the day Edward first heard Adrian's thoughts. We realized the spell Antonia had put on them was beginning to wear off. He couldn't read everyone right away like before instead it came in bits and pieces only by chance. Even Bella and Alice was still unable to tap into their gifts just yet as much as they tried.

  That is also when Jessica began to come around. Despite my protest with Carlisle, I began to feel like she had some kind of power over him, Edward and Bella. They seemed to take her side whenever anyone else began to question her loyalty. As if they felt sorry for her and wanted her to feel like part of the family.

   At this point i had enough and kept to myself not wanting to be around her no more then i had too. As the days went by i began to notice the others was beginning to be more sympathetic towards her. Alice comes into my room one day with a cup fill with blood for me to drink and i had asked her if Jessica was here. I was tired of being in my room and wanted to be around the others. She said yes and I groaned with a heavy sigh.

"Rose you really need to get over these feeling you have towards her. I've had time to talk with her. She isn't as bad as you think and i believe her too. She's been through a lot. You should give her a chance. You and Silviana both are acting unreasonable." She told me as she handed me my cup.

" What do you mean? Dose Silviana not like her as well?" I asked as i took it from her.

" She stays in her room now just as much as you do." She replied. " Will you come down stairs with me? Spend some time with her and at least try to see for yourself. I'll help you if you feel like you are to weak to make it on your own."

"Maybe later."

" Well let me know if you do, ok?"

"Sure" i told her as she was heading out the door.

    I waited for a bit after she left the room before i got up out of my bed. It's been three weeks now since i became human and i was beginning to show. Despite me being weak due to not able to keep anything down, i wanted to talk to Silviana. I walked to the door but stop to listen for any noise that could tell me if someone was in the hallway. I really miss my heightened senses in times like this i thought to myself.

   I slowly opened the door hoping like hell it wouldn't make any noise and picked out. Silly i know. Of course anyone still in the house would hear it. I looked around and no one was there. I wait just in case they would come check on me but no one came so i walked to Silviana's room. When i got to the door i whispered "Silviana are you in there? It's me Rose."

  When she opened the door she quickly pulled me in and shut the door. i stumbled a bit but thankfully i was able to regain my footing. Taken by surprise because of her actions i said " what was that for?" She didn't say a word but instead put her finger to her lips indicating for me to be silent. She then took my hand and lead me to the bed to sit down. Still not saying a word she closes her eyes and mumbles something i couldn't understand. That's when a shimmering bubble starts to form around us.

" There, now no one will hear us talk. It's a soundproof Shield. Grandmother and i used it to plan our Escape from the Volturi. Cool, huh?"

"Very impressive" i replied with a smile. " I'm guessing you read my thoughts and concerns about Jessica."

"Yes i did. Plus i heard you and Alice talking. Honestly i been suspecting she may have a gift but I can't be sure."
