Gabriel was ready to go in gun-ho to kill the Eater of Worlds. He enjoyed going in all kamikaze to kill the bosses without any preparation. Andrew informed him that this was a terrible plan.
"You see Gabriel, bosses are no laughing matter. They're difficult to spawn and are very powerful. Therefore, it would be wise to make adequate preparation before fighting them, such as building a stable arena, adding protection and helpful arena items, and making any relevant buff potions available."
Gabriel yawned, drinking his water and standing next to a chair (because you couldn't sit in chairs yet)
"Yeah...that's smart, but these are PRE-Hardmode bosses. I'll consider that for when we fight harder bosses, but for now, there's VERY minimal danger," Gabriel said.
"Tell that to the Eye of Cthulu," Andrew muttered, going back to playing with his yoyo.
Gabriel decided to fight the Eater of Worlds next. It used to be Cthulu's spine, but after falling under the Corruption, it became a sentient worm-like being. Gabriel decided to find more information from Andrew, because that seemed smart.
Now, despite its name, the Eater of Worlds doesn't actually destroy tiles. Gabriel, if he so chose to, could build an arena at his leisure. He decided not to, leading to Andrew being very angry. But hey- he heard that if he kept swinging the Frostbrand, he should be able to kill the Eater in a couple of swings.
Like most bosses, the Eater of Worlds can be spawned a number of ways: it can be summoned via the Worm Food item which requires a crap ton of stuff, or by smashing three shadow orbs. Gabriel had already smashed one, so he just needed to smash two more.
After the orbs were broken, Gabriel heard the unmistakable roar of a boss, but couldn't see the Eater anywhere. He climbed back up to the surface to see it burrowing its way towards the Underworld at an alarming rate.
Well, there goes my worm Gabriel thought.
Reluctantly, he smashed three more shadow orbs, and this time, the Eater didn't decide to be lazy and dig his way to China. (except you can't really dig to China in Terraria because the world doesn- you know what forget it)
The Eater made the wrong choice however, as Gabriel was able to catch it out as it was barreling towards him. He held the Frostbrand in front of him and the Eater rammed right into it, slicing the whole thing in half.
If Gabriel had an "easy" button, he would have pressed it right then.
From the worm, Gabriel got tons of Demonite and Shadow Scales, powerful materials used to craft powerful armor, and a better pickaxe for Gabriel.
With these in hand, Gabriel was ready to take on his next boss. A strong boss hiding itself deep in the jungle. Not the powerful jungle creature that cursed Gabriel's key, but a different one; a giant bee. (hey that rhymed)
