Kirstie POV
"Avi, babe, we're home," I whisper in his ear. He slept the entire time on the plane: I was bored out of my mind.
"Oh, ah, can we get off?" He took my hand.
"Almost." I kissed his forehead. His eyes fluttered open, and he smiled at me.
"Home, finally," he sighed. I stroked his hair gently.
"I know what I want to do when we get home," I smile.
"Oh yeah?" Avi cocked an eyebrow.
"I want to get..." I start.
"Pregnant?"Avi pouted.
"Um, no. Guess again."
"The Original Broadway Company's rendition of Chicago?"
"Nope," I laughed. "Guess again."
"A puppy?" he smiled.
"Bingo!" I kissed his forehead.
"So, do you want to do that right after we unpack?"
"YES YES YES!" I screamed, and you wouldn't believe the looks he gave me.
"Sh, okay. C'mon, let's go." He pulled my hand up, and we walked through the terminal. All I could think about is the new puppy I would be getting. I decided on a white husky named Olaf or Elsa, depending on the gender. We got home, and I sprinted into the bedroom to unpack. I put everything away lightning fast, and pulled out Avi's stuff and did the same. I ran out, and Avi was sitting leisurely on the couch.
"Avi!!!! Let's gooooo," I whined, and pulled his hand.
"No, I just got into this show," he sighed.
"We are going to get my puppy, and I will leave with or without you. Without you, I may get more than one puppy."
"Let's go hun," Avi stands up, and grabs the keys off the hook. We drive in silence, until I speak up.
"What do you want to name our son or daughter?" I ask.
"Well, for a son, I would want Ethan, because it means strong. For a girl, I would want Rosalyn. That means beautiful flower."
"Ethan and Rosalyn. That's cute," I smile.
"What about you?" he smiled.
"For a boy, I want Patrick because it means noble, and for a girl I want Caprice, but that's weird, and it means whimsical," I set my hands in my lap.
"Rosalyn Caprice and Patrick Ethan."
"Patrick Ethan sounds weird. Ethan Patrick?" I laugh.
"Sure babe," he smiles.
"Hey Avi?"
"What?"
"Guess what."
"What?"
"I farted."
"Way to ruin a moment, Kirst," he laughed.
"That's what I'm here for." Avi rolled his eyes.
"Okay, do you know what you're looking for?" he grabbed a hold of my hand.
"Yes," I said, and we walked to the counter where dogs were available. I asked for what I wanted, a white husky. They came out with the most perfect little husky with the prettiest blue eyes.
"What do you want to name him?" the clerk smiled.
"Olaf," I rocked on the balls of my feet. Avi and I walked around the store, buying everything we would need for our little baby boy. We got home, and Olaf ran around the room, sniffing and barking. I put some food and water in his dish, and sat on the couch with Avi.
"We're a perfect little family now, huh?" he kissed my head.
"Yeah, and Mommy needs some chocolate. Be right back," I smiled, but panicked internally. I didn't need to buy chocolate (although I am going to). I needed a pregnancy test. I missed my period, and it's been a few days. I grab a fast acting one with shaking hands, and pick up some Hershey Kisses. I couldn't be pregnant. I'm not 25 yet. That's when we said we would get pregnant. I don't want to give my life away yet. I stop by a gas station, and pee there. Negative. I don't know if I'm happy or sad. I love Avi and I want kids with him, but not yet. I drive home, and sit next to Avi.
"Maybe we should go natural," Avi says out of the blue.
"What?" I laugh.
"What if we stopped birth control and condoms. What if we went natural, but didn't try to get pregnant?"
"How much do you want that?"
"Enough?" he smiled.
"Like, how much?"
"I wouldn't die if we didn't," he trailed off.
"Well then, okay. It's a waste of money anyway," I laugh.
"So today is the last pill day?" he asked.
"Yes. Let's go throw them away," I pulled him up, and he dumped them in the trash. This was a statement of us starting a family, and I'll admit it. I was happy.
