The Red Legion tank opens fire with it's cannon, and Spe-7 gets out just in time to avoid getting completely annihilated in the explosion. Taiki and Suzuka immediately begin pelting the tank with shots from the interceptors, destroying its rocket pack, but Taiki also gets blasted by the cannon- and he dies as this happens.
"Oh no!" Spe-7 shouts as Ghost floats around, attempting to quickly revive him.
"You two watch out for that tank! I got him!" Ghost calls out as Spe-7 spawns a new tank and engages the Red Legion's in combat, leaving Suzuka to cover Ghost and take out the footsoldiers. Eventually Taiki is revived and he looks around, gun pointed.
"All right, who's the one that blasted me to bits?!" Taiki shouts as he aims his hand cannon. It's then that the tank gets destroyed by Spe-7 and the trio continues forward- only to find that the cabal have raised a bridge to allow the tank over. "Nuts. There's a bridge that's been opened up and we can't get through."
"Aww, your super tank can't fly?" Cayde teases.
"Suzuka, cover Spe, I'll get the controls to get the bridge down." Taiki says as he rushes forth, jumping over the chasm that would normally get a tank stuck, and almost immediately a group of phalanxes emerge. "Shit, this ain't good..." He mumbles as he realizes that there's no way for him to penetrate the line of shields that is currently advancing and spewing slugs at him. That's when Spe-7 fires the tank's rockets, sending the exo flying but also annihilating the firing line.
"Sorry!" Spe-7 calls out as Taiki gets back on his feet and he sees the controls for the bridge. "Didn't need to do that but it helps!"
"So Zavala, if it wasn't a tank that I was gonna get, why did you send our favorite trio to get me?" Cayde asks.
"Your high risk, high reward tactics are useful... And inspiring." Zavala replies.
"Yeah but if I had a tank I would be like... A million times more inspiring!" Cayde says as Taiki throws the switch to get their tank across. Once it's through the Red Legion carrier can be clearly seen with the naked eye, and it's engines are still whirring.
"That carrier holds the only thing between you and the Almighty: Thumos. He's a member of Ghaul's Blood Guard, only the most fanatically devoted to him are chosen and end up in positions like this." Zavala explains. "The Red Legion would die for Ghaul, so let's speed up that process."
"Gladly." Taiki chuckles as another thresher emerges. The carrier then projects a shield around it, and more threshers emerge to bombard the ground with powerful rockets.
"If we don't stop that carrier it's going to take off!" Ghost says. "We need to bring down that shield, and fast!"
"Someone say fast? Taiki! The tank is yours!" Spe-7 calls out as she hops out and beckons the exo to hop in. "What are we looking for?"
"Detecting two shield generators!" Ghost replies. "Spe-7, rush in and knock them out! That should allow Taiki to use the tank's cannon on it!"
"I'll provide covering fire!" Suzuka calls out as she continues to pilot the stolen interceptor and brings up the rear for Spe-7, knocking out cabal as they go. Eventually they reach the carrier and spot the two shield generators that Ghost mentioned.
"Here comes the pain!" Spe-7 shouts as she begins firing her minigun, spraying a nigh endless stream of bullets at a shield generator. A few more seconds of constant pelting is all it takes to destroy it while Suzuka fires the solar cannons on the interceptor, destroying the other, before ramming the approaching cabal with the hovering scout vehicle.
"It's still trying to take off!" Taiki calls out. "Cayde, anything we can do to stop it?"
"Try to put a shell in it's tailpipe! That should do the trick!" Cayde replies.
"You got it!" Taiki shouts, but before he can take aim, yet another group of threshers emerges. "Suzuka! Spe! Try to draw their fire or they're going to annihilate this tank!"
"Roger that!" The two call out as they begin shooting at the gunships. Fortunately thanks to their combined efforts the threshers are distracted well enough for Taiki to take the shot and fire at the carrier itself. A few good shells is all it takes as the trio suddenly hear a whirring sound going the opposite way and exasperated cabal arguing with each other over what just happened.
"I think that did the job." Ghost says. "The carrier is grounded."
"Aww, your big carrier can't fly anymore?" Taiki laughs, and Cayde soon joins.
"Man this is why I like you." Cayde chuckles. "Anyways good work out there. Now to go find Thumos, quote on quote The Unbroken. That's the guy who commands a really high profile cabal ship. Kill him, hijack his ship, you'll pass right along as if you were the guy himself."
"The Unbroken? Really?" Taiki asks. "Seriously, the cabal and their egoistic names. At least we have all the time we need to take him out."
"Well I wouldn't break a sweat if I were you." Cayde replies.
"Cayde, after this is over we can talk to Holliday about your tank." Zavala says.
"Aww, I missed you two big blue." Cayde replies.
