Alexandra ended up drifting away from the crowd downstairs to check on the room that had been hers. Maybe something would spark a memory.
When she woke up, her room was trashed. Alexandra didn't know when she'd fallen asleep. She woke up when Ginny knocked on the door. She looked around the room, at the torn pages tbat littered the floor.
"Alexandra, I'm coming in.""Wait-" it was too late. Ginny had entered.
"What happened?"
"Um, I don't know." Alexandra answered truthfully. Ginny misunderstood and walked to sit by her sister.
"Mum's back. She said dad's going to be okay. You don't need to worry."
"Worry... right. How long's it been?"
"About five hours."
"I think I fell asleep." Alexandra said. Ginny nodded.
"Come on, help me clear up this mess, and let's go to sleep." Ginny instructed and Alexandra moved to get the shredded papers. There were a bunch that had been doused in water and packed tightly together into a ball. Not even magic could fix that.
Alexandra waited until her sister dozed off before sneaking out. She saw her mother in the kitchen and went to say good morning.
"Hello, dear." Molly's eyes were red as though she'd been crying."How's dad?"
"He's out of the woods. The healers are with him and making sure he'll be fine."
"How are you?"
"Oh, I'm okay." Molly gave her a teary smile and Alexandra hugged her mother. Molly paused a moment before hugging her back tighter. Soon enough, she felt Molly's tears on the top of her head but didn't let go. Her mum needed this. Maybe something had happened to make her avoid her family but Hermione was right. She didn't want to know. She didn't need to know. Some things should stay buried.
Alexandra sat in the living room. Harry walked in and, as though some switch had been flicked, she slumped back. She sat back up almost immediately.
"You were lying." She accused."What?"
"You were lying when you told us about your dream. What happened?"
"You don't- you're not supposed to know anything. What?" She glared at him.
"What happened?" She repeated.
"Were you lying this whole time?"
"I'm going to ask you one more time, and then I'll extract it from your mind. What happened?"
"I was the snake." He said. "I was the snake in the dream and I bit Mr Weasley and I wanted to kill Dumbledore."
"Nagini." She said softly. "Thank you." She sat back on the chair and closed her eyes. Harry stayed still as she blinked and looked up at him.
"Hello Harry." She smiled pleasantly.
"What?"
"I said hello."
"You really expect me to play along like nothing happened?"
"What are you talking about?"
"You just-?" He broke off. She looked at herself.
"Oh. That. Sorry, I must have dozed off for a second. I thought I'd slept long enough."
"You weren't asleep. You were..." he backed away out of the room and left. She looked confused but brushed him off. He probably needed some sleep, anyone would under the circumstances.
Later that afternoon, she managed to avoid Harry. He'd been acting very oddly around her.
"Hey, Alex." A lady with bright pink hair greeted her upon arriving."Um, hi." She frowned. "I'm sorry, what's your name?" The lady's face fell.
"This is Tonks." Ginny saved her. "Tonks, Alexandra's got amnesia. She genuinely doesn't remember you or anything from the past five years." There was a snort of derision coming from Harry. Alexandra looked at him in confusion but let it go.
"Oh. Memory loss? How?"
"It's a long story." Alexandra said. "But sorry."
"No worries. You can't help it, I guess. Ooh, is that your mum's cooking I smell?" She sniffed the air and Alexandra grinned.
"Yeah, come in!" She looked over at the man that had come in. Mad-Eye Moody. He looked at her, his eye whizzing around crazily. She gave him a shy smile before leading Tonks to the kitchen.
"You know, Tonks, Alexandra doesn't remember you so she doesn't remember your special skill."
"That she's a metamorphmagus?" Alexandra asked. Ginny pouted.
"How do you know?" She asked. Harry suddenly looked very interested in their conversation.
"The hair." Alexandra shrugged.
"I could have coloured it."
"Probably, but aurors can't afford to stand out at all times. A more common hair colour is probably a requirement unless she can easily change it."
"You ever consider a career as an auror?" Tonks asked and Alexandra shook her head.
"I want to be a potion mistress. Work in an apothecary, invent potions of my own to help people."
"Thought you wanted a farm." Harry said, accusingly. Alexandra frowned at him.
"Hermione said that's what I used to want. But I'm not that same person."
"So you gonna give up quidditch?" Ginny asked teasingly.
"You wish. No, my team's depending on me. Besides, I think I owe it to Cedric or to who I used to be, to play. At least for this year. Next year, the house cup's all yours."
"You don't think I can beat you?"
"Well, you might. You can. We'll just have to see."
"I guess we will."
A/N- lmfao, I kind of feel sorry for Harry at this point 😂
Favourite line is "I'm going to ask you one more time, and then I'll extract it from your mind."
