[ Chapter Twenty ]

❝I told you they're not so bad.❞

[Chapter Eight: The Upside Down]

One Month Later

Beth was over at Nancy's house, partially because her little brother was currently hanging out with Mike and partially because she was exchanging presents with Nancy.

Even though Beth hadn't shown up to her job for a little while while her brother was missing and presumed dead, her managers had acknowledged her trauma and decided to let her keep her job, which was lucky for her because she had been able to make enough money in the past month to buy people Christmas gifts.

Nancy had bought Beth a copy of Pride and Prejudice which she had wanted to own ever since she'd read it from the library and Beth had bought Nancy a new set of makeup brushes because apparently Nancy had ruined hers.

"Merry Christmas Nancy!" Beth smiled at her best friend.

"Merry Christmas Beth." Nancy replied, "Is Jonathan coming to pick you up?"

"Yeah. Why?" Beth asked.

"I have something to give him. Well, it's not just from me." Nancy said.

Beth raised an eyebrow.

"It's also from Steve." Nancy admitted.

"Interesting." Beth remarked.

Nancy rolled her eyes, "He's trying."

"Yeah." Beth nodded, "I know."

A knock suddenly sounded at the front door and Nancy went to answer it, opening it to reveal Jonathan.

"Ready to go?" Jonathan asked Beth who emerged right behind Nancy.

"Yeah, we just need to get Will." Beth nodded.

Jonathan nodded, "I'll go get him."

As Jonathan went downstairs, Mrs. Wheeler appeared and handed Beth something in a container.

"Here, it's something for your mom." Mrs. Wheeler said.

"Thanks Mrs. Wheeler." Beth said, "Um Merry Christmas!"
