[Chapter Three: Holly, Jolly]

After school, Beth found Nancy on the phone outside of the school talking to someone. As soon as she was done, Beth walked over to her.

"Hey. What's going on?" Beth asked her.

"I called Barb's mom but she said that Barb wasn't there." Nancy responded, looking stressed.

Beth's heart sunk, "Okay, maybe I was wrong."

"Do you think she's missing too?" Nancy asked, panicked.

"I don't know. Maybe she just didn't go home last night. Is there anywhere else she could have gone?" Beth asked, upset that she couldn't figure out a place that her friend could be.

"I don't know. We're her friends, we should know this." Nancy panicked.

"Nance. Calm down." Beth told her.

"It's all my fault. I should have just taken her home instead of staying with Steve. I'm a horrible friend." Nancy said.

"If you're a horrible friend then so am I. I should have come to that party just so I could make sure you all got home okay." Beth responded, tugging on her hair nervously.

"No, your brother is missing. You cant blame yourself." Nancy told her.

"What time did you leave anyway?" Beth asked her.

"I don't know. It was really late." Nancy admitted.

"Okay, do you want to go look for her?" Beth asked.

"If you're up for it?" Nancy asked.

"She's our friend, Nance. Of course I'm up for it." Beth agreed, and then looked out into the parking lot.

Steve, Tommy and Carol were gathered around her brother's car. She watched as Jonathan came up to them, intending to get into his car but they cornered him and seemed to be taunting him about something.
