Antarctica's POV:
Well, it's nice to know he gets some protection. I don't know much about him. I have never met him. All I know is what I have been told. What I have been told is not good.
Though, it looks like he was at least trying to be "good" while he was talking to us. He didn't do anything rude he shut up without being told to. Other than the biting incident he's been pretty ok.
In the mirror Red is standing. He looked interesting to say the least. He was in human form. He was wearing a black uniform. No meddles, no signs of origin. Just a plain black uniform. It actually almost looked like a suit.
He was not wearing a hat so I could see his hair. It was a golden blond color. It was shaved short on the sides and combed back. It looked professional. He also looked taller than in real life.
He was just standing in the mirror listening. The longer he stood there the more angry he looked. Pink on the other hand looked happier and more relived the more this went on. Polar opposites. That's what they act like anyways.
Maybe after this I should go and talk to him. Just a simple hi. I don't know how they will take it or if the others will even let me. It's worth a shot in my opinion.
UN keeps on explaining the rules and they are pretty normal. No weapons, don't leave the building you are in without the host knowing and/or letting you. Don't hurt anyone. The usual stuff.
"Now what?" Asked Mexico. "Now we need to see who's gonna take him home first, and who does it after them." America said. "I'll take him first." Said Britain. England glanced at his older brother, gave a quick sigh and looked back to UN.
"Wait, what if we don't want to take him?" Said China. "How about this, if you don't want to do it put your name on this list and you won't have to partake in this." Said UN, pulling out a clipboard and putting a small stack of paper on it.
A whole bunch of people got up to sign it. China, Latvia, India, etc. I stayed in my seat.
The meeting ended and people started to leave the room. I decided to walk up to him. I don't know how this will go, but I hope it goes well.
He was still sitting in the chair. The mirror was back to normal. JE was still sitting there. She looked at me and then looked at Third.
"Hello." I say to him. He did not respond. It looked like he didn't even hear me. JE pokes his shoulder. He jumps a bit and looks at her. She points to me and he turns to look at me. "Sorry, I was stuck in thought." He said nervously. "It's fine. I just wanted to say hi. I've never met you. I'm kind of the 'new guy' here." I say.
I was not the new guy but my flag is definitely not old. I'm very new compared to say the flags of Asia or Europe.
"Hello, you already know who I am. May I know who you are?" He asks, looking at me with his pink eyes. "My name is Antarctica. I am the personification of the southernmost continent." He gets a light in his eyes. This is it.
"You're the personification of an ENTIRE CONTINENT!?!" he says smiling. I laugh a bit and nod, JE does the same.
"They managed to populate Antarctica?! How many people?! Who owns the land?! Was there a turf war? Are you independent? What's your national language? Do you have your own language?" He started to happily spout questions. He looked so happy. Like all his worry's washed away in an instant.
"Hay buddy, he might answer some of your questions if you give him a chance to talk." JE says, covering her friend's mouth. Third sheepishly smiles, pushing JE's hand away.
"Sorry, I got excited." He said looking down, still with that nervous smile. "It's fine. I don't mind it." I say.
"To answer some of your questions, the population changes all the time. I am populated with scientists from all over the world. There was no turf war and I am not technically independent. My land is owned by Britain, France, Australia, Norway etc.. There is a set of my land that no one owns. I speak many languages. I don't have a national one, but I do know American Sign Language." I say, answering his questions.
He nods and reaches to his side. There is nothing there and he realizes this quickly. "Oh, das stimmt. Ich habe mein Buch nicht. Mist!" (Oh, that's right. I don't have my book. Damn!)
"What did you say?" I ask Third. "In short. He wants to write this down." JE says. "You know German?" I ask her. The two friends nod. "We learned each other's first language so we could better understand each other. We also learned English together, I got a head start though." Third said. Sounding a bit proud at the last bit.
"Oh wow, you were so bored out of your mind you literally read the entire English dictionary." JE says, rolling her eyes. "It worked didn't it." Third retaliates, his eyes changing to a deeper color. "It worked sort of. You still have that pronunciation problem though." JE said crossing her arms. "I do not!" Third said, yelling slightly in a high pitch voice.
JE raised an eyebrow. There were a few seconds of silence. "It's not my fault they spell everything like dyslexic children." Third mumbles, crossing his arms and looking to the side.
"Speaking of the way you talk," I start. "You don't have a German accent, you have an American one. How is that?" I ask. "To explain my spelling, I read an American English dictionary, I also purposely got rid of my accent. The reason is personal." Third says, looking up at me. "I can respect that." I say.
I wonder why he got rid of it. Maybe he didn't like how he sounded. Self conscious maybe? It could be because others could not understand him. I know I can barely understand his dad half the time. Who knows, I just met him five minutes ago.
But, In the five minutes of talking to him and seeing him interact with his friend all of the things I thought he would be like have been debunked. I was expecting to be talking to this spawn of Satan or something, that's how everyone describes him.
I kind of feel bad for expecting something so horrible. Based on the way he was acting earlier he knew how everyone perceived him, a horrible person that most likely came straight through the gates of hell. That would explain the anxiety. It sucks he only has one person he can be calm around. All that anxiety and adrenaline can't be good for anyone, especially a dead country.
I hope this all goes well. All We can do is wait and see what happens. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. From this point on it all depends on what he does. If he wants to get better he will. It's clear Pink wants to make the most of this. It's Red I'm worried about. He can't be at fifty percent with this. It's either one hundred or nothing. I'll do what I can to help, but first he must help himself.
