Pop music blared through the forest. The cool night air felt alive as the eldest of the students at Xavier's school celebrated the astonishing success of the x-men on their latest mission.
A bonfire was alight at one end of the clearing. Several students mingled around and nearby as one of the mutants entertained by showing off their ability to dance with the flames. Swaying to a music that only they heard as flames danced on and around their body rhythmically.
Stationed in the center of the clearing was the main source of music, Dazzler- or so she went by.
Her mutation allowed her to transducer sonic vibrations which reach her body into various types of light.
Her voice carried easily to all ears of the party goers. Her body swayed along to the dancing lights that emitted from her. Swirling above all of those who gathered, creating a twinkling effect.
It was almost like she had command over hundreds of thousands of fireflies whose sole purpose in life was to sway and dance to her voice.
It was a wonderful sight to be present for.
More students made their escape from the dorms via a portal that was created by another. Bodies pouring out in pairs and trios. Laughter rising as they hurried to run to join the fun.
A couple ran by Amberle, their hands latched together tightly.
She smiled softly as the girl led the boy to a group of friends. Who greeted them with a round of cheers, followed by laughter.
"This isn't so bad, huh?" Scott mused, bringing his plastic cup to his lips for a sip. Downing what remained of the pink liquid.
Amberle let out a short laugh, "I never even gave you a reason to think that I would feel that way!"
She brought her own cup up for a sip. The mixed drink burned her throat as it went down. She wondered what cheap alcohol this was, musing over the idea of one of her peers buying alcohol from someone of age.
She doubted it came from Xavier's office, which was the only place she knew of where alcohol was in the entire school.
"I just know you do not like to hang around these sort of things for long." Scott confessed. Bringing his now empty cup up to his chest where he held it.
"And I appreciate you doing this for my sake. Because I know you do not enjoy them and that means that you are here for me and my sake, which is nice."
Amberle veered her gaze upwards to meet where she knew Scotts eyes were behind the ruby colored lenses. Holding the gaze.
"I like seeing you happy." She too admitted. Taking another long drink from her cup. Urging the alcohol to hit her hard enough that she wasn't drowning in the sickly sweet taste of hormones.
Before her mutation had evolved, Amberle simply did not enjoy parties like this. Likely due to the fact that she wished to be a part of the friend groups that clung together during these types of events.
It was her own fault for not pushing to make more friends in her early years. Even last year she had not pushed to be one of the first to receive an invitation.
She had struggled with how to make friends. While she was considered to be amongst her own kind here at the school. She still felt that many had held her at an arms length because of what her mutation was.
Being able to know and see everything about someone with a simple hand touch was not something someone wanted to experience.
Not everyone wanted to be known as deeply as that.
