Johnny went over to the park to see if he could find Dally. He did find him. "Hey, man." Johnny said

"Hey." Dallas blew out cigarette smoke

"Are you ok?"

"No." Dally admitted

"What's wrong?"

"Sylvia."

"What of her?" Johnny asked

"She cheated on me again. This is the fifth time!"

"I don't get why you let her come back to you. You should look at other girls and get to know them."

"You know I'm not the 'get to knowing' type."

"Why do you hang with her then?"

"She's hot. I like her."

"Do you love her?"

"No." Dally said, "And a day before my birthday. The audacity of that broad."

"Then find someone you might love." Johnny suggested, "She might love you back."

Meanwhile, in the house of a soc girl named Lila Stearson, who was seventeen and to be eighteen in a day, her father and Bob Sheldon were having a conversation. Bob was Lila's "boyfriend". He was actually an ex of hers. But her father never let it go. "So can I marry her?" Bob asked

"I don't think she should be married this young." Said Mr. Stearson

"Come on, Mr. Stearson. When did you get married?"

"When I was twenty."

"It's only a two year difference. Please, Mr. Stearson, I'm begging you. I love her."

There was a long pause. "Fine. But wait for at least a week at most." He agreed

"Thank you!"

"And the party is tonight. Don't forget!"

The Stearson family always threw birthday parties a day before. For some odd reason, an invitation had gotten to Two-bit for Lila's party. She did know him from school (she graduated early). She found his humor vey interesting and funny. "You got invited to a socs party?" Dally asked him

"Yup. And these ain't no Buck Merrill parties either. The Stearsons are loaded!" Two-bit said

"But why you, though?" Ponyboy asked

"Why not? I'm amazing."

"Hey, Keith." Said Dally, "Do you think maybe you could sneak me and Johnny in. I'm bored, and Johnny needs to get away from his parents. Also, Sylvia gets invited to everything. She might be there. She's bratty enough to hang with soc girls."

"Do you think a soc party is gonna make him feel better?" Two asked

"It could." Dally shrugged

"Sure. Why not?"

"Awesome." Dally said

"Johnny, what do you say?" Two-bit asked

"Sure. I won't like it. But sure."

"You'll have fun." Said Dally
