"Katrina!" Said Lila's mother
"Yes?" Said Katrina
"Go get Lila, will you."
The Stearsons were Loaded with a capital L. Katrina was their maid. "Lila, dear?" She said as she entered her room
"Yes?"
"Your mother wants to speak to you."
Lila walked into the living room where her mom was. "Yes, mom?" She asked
"Lila, have you ever thought about marriage?" Mrs. Stearson asked
"No. Why?"
"I was just wondering. You know I was your mother when I was twenty. You are seventeen and about to be eighteen."
"I don't understand why you think I should get married so soon. It's not like it's the 1800's." Lila said
"Well, Bob Sheldon has asked if he could marry you."
"Why? You know I hate that guy."
"All I've said is that he's asked. You should think about it."
"Girls," said Katrina, "dinner is ready."
Hours later, the three greasers snuck into the party. It was held in the park, anyone could have showed if they wanted to. "I've never seen the park look this amazing." Said Johnny
"No one has. No one but the socs." Said Two-bit
"Let's get in, then. If I don't find a broad, at leas to could crash this thing." Dally said
"This is more of a formal dancing thing. You can wear casual clothes, but everyone will judge you." Said Two-bit
"Your point?" Asked Dallas
"This ain't wild like what you're used to. There's one kind of alcohol: wine."
"Oh." Dallas almost regretted coming at this point, "You know, I heard a weird dream last night."
"What was it?" Asked Johnny
"One night like this was gonna change my life forever."
"How so?"
"I don't know."
The boys looked around at the lit up park. There were poles where the lights were attached in a square. There were plenty of tables. And there were more socs than anyone had ever seen. And this park was considered greaser territory.
Dally's eyes stopped at Lila. He stared for a while until she noticed. She looked back at him then looked back at her friend she was speaking to. "Two-bit, who's that?" He asked
"Lila Stearson. The birthday girl. Tomorrow, anyway." He explained"She's really... pretty. That ain't the right word. She's... I don't know."
"Try beautiful." Johnny suggested
"That's it!"
Randy looked around at the party. He was Lila's cousin. He stopped and did a double take at the greasers in the corner of the park. "A greaser..." he muttered, "Uncle Josh, what are they doing here?"
"Who?"
"The greasers! I'm jumping them out of here." He started walking away, but his uncle grabbed his arm"You will do no such thing! I will not allow you to ruin my daughter's party. Understand?"
"Fine."
Dally walked over to Lila. He "accidentally" touched her hand. "Sorry." He said, "I bumped into you."
"It's ok." She said
"You know, I think the roles should switch. Our hands are touching, but what about our lips?" He asked
"They're speaking."
"But let's let lips do what hands do. Touch."
"Do you use this pick up line on every girl you meet?" Lila asked
"Depends. Does it work?"
"Yes." Lila pecked him on the lips
Dally repeated her action for a while longer. "You're Dallas Winston, right?" She asked
"Yup. You're Lila Stearson?"
"Yeah."
"Where do you live?" Dally asked
"Do you know where the neighborhood Montolet is?" She asked
"Yeah."
"1535 Montolet road. Red house, black roof. You can't miss it."
"Lila!" Katrina approached them, "your mother wants to speak to you."
"Will I see you again?" Lila asked Dally
"No doubt about it."
