Tactically, Hinata tiptoed through the quiet house, illuminating his path by flipping the light switch to the hallway. A cracked door caught his attention as a fiendish smirk lifted his lips.
He opened it, walking in as quietly as possible and stepping over the all-to-familiar squeaky floorboard. He laughed quietly, lifting his hands into the air and- "Tickle, tickle, tickle, tickle!" The ginger giggled, startling the little girl awake.
"Oni-Chan, ahaha! Okay, Okay! I'm up!" She sat up in her bed, trying to be angry, but began laughing at the sight of her brother also laughing. "It's our first day of school! You don't wanna be late, right?"
Hinata had his uniform on already, albeit messily, and had already tended to his morning routine. He flipped the light to the room on so they could see better. "So bright!" Natsu, his little sister hissed, pulling her pink flowery blanket over her head.
"Oh no, you don't!" Hinata yanked them off of her and picked her up, carrying her over to her closet. "Come on! I'll help you get ready!"
-----
The two sunny siblings rushed down the stairs to eat breakfast, which Hinata had prepared in advance. Omelets with smiley faces and hearts on them; Natsu's favorite. "Thank you, Oni-Chan!" Natsu shouted happily before digging in, Hinata following her movements.
When the two were done, Natsu ran upstairs to get her school supplies and backpack, leaving Hinata to wash the dishes. As he placed the plates in the sink, a piece of paper caught his eye. Curious, he picked it up and read it.
Sorry, Shouyou. I know I just got back last night, but they called me back in and I couldn't refuse. They're paying double the amount I usually get and the company's covering the food and accommodation prices! Isn't that awesome? Anyway, tell Natsu I said hi and that I miss her so so much! I promise I'll come home next month! I have at your new school! I hope the new house is treating you well as well! I'll send money to you guys every week (as usual) to pay for the food and bills (and a little extra ;)) so please don't be too upset! Love you guys, and see you next month!
This was typical behavior of his mother. For years, it had been this way. It wasn't that they didn't make enough money to survive; they had plenty. It's just, for some reason, she didn't like being confined at home.
Even when she was here it was only for a week or two, and in that time she was always in town or hanging out with friends. She was hardly ever with them. Smiling, Hinata crumpled up the note and tucked the 55,000 yen attached to it in his pocket.
"Natsu, are you ready to go?" Hinata shouted up the stairs, tucking his feet into his sneakers and tying his rollerblades around his backpack strap by their laces. "Coming!" She answered. Soon, little footsteps were heard, and then appeared Natsu, but she looked conflicted.
"What's wrong, Natsu?" She looked around desperately for something. "I can't find my lucky charm!" She cried. When she turned around again, a tangerine keychain attached to her backpack caught his eye, and he giggles.
" Natsu, it's on your backpack!" She gasped and pulled it off, checking for it. "It is!" She burst into a fit of giggles, holding her hands up to her big brother. He graciously picked her up. "Let's go before we're late!"
-----
"Have a nice day, Hinata-Kun!" The daycare teacher said to the ginger, holding Natsu's hand, who was waving vigorously. Hinata waved back, walking a little way down the sidewalk and sitting on one of the benches.
The little ginger checked his watch, gasping. "I can't make it to the early morning tryouts, but I might still make it to the practice if I hurry!" Quickly, he untied his rollerblades and switched them out with his sneakers.
After securing them on his feet, he put his shoes in his backpack and stood, skating at a fast pace in the direction of his new school. A large group of students blocked the sidewalk and he ducked underneath a pair of one of their legs.
"Sorry, I'm in a rush!" He shouted to the shocked students. "That was so cool..." one of them muttered.
Hinata jumped high onto the railing beside the stairs, sliding down them with perfect balance. The wind blew his hair back, making his adorable face more visible. He giggled, enjoying the moment, even though he was in a rush.
"Hey, skater boy!" A voice shouted on the opposite side of the street as he jumped over one of the benches to cut through the crosswalk and onto the other side of the street. He turned around, slowing down the smallest bit, and pointed to himself questioningly.
"Yeah, can you do a trick?" The bald male shouted earning a punch from his friend. Hinata giggled and grabbed onto the railing hoisting himself up into a split handstand and spinning around a few times.
The moment his skates hit the pavement, the two males clapped viciously, the bald one whistling. "Gotta go!" Hinata shouted to them with a wave and a giggle, already skating away.
"Is he a new student? He was wearing our uniform," a silver-haired male stated, pointing in the direction the ginger went. "I don't know, but he looked so cute! I wanted to get a better look," the bald male whined, wiping fake tears out of his eyes.
"We should put a pep in our step. Daichi's gonna kill us for being this late. Well, I have an excuse, but you're basically hanging meat. So long." The silver-haired male began jogging away, startling the blady.
"Hey, wait up, Suga-San!"
-----
A large high school came into view, and Hinata quickly skated through the gates and weaved his way around the passing students with ease. The crowds dissipated the closer he got to the gym until it was only him standing in front of it.
Gasping for air, the ginger checked his watch. "Oh no! I'm seven minutes late!" He gasped to himself, crouching down and removing his skates. He quickly attached them to his bag and entered the gym with his socks on.
"Excuse me?" He asked the person closest to him, who just so happened to be the captain of the volleyball club.
"Oh, sorry. I didn't- Woah..." The male stared at Hinata, the volleyball slipping from his hands and bouncing away. "Um, I-I came here to try out for the volleyball club, but I'm a little late! I'm sorry!" Hinata bowed to the male, who quickly came back to.
"N-No, it's okay! You can still try out if you've brought your own practice clothes." Hinata smiled brightly, undoing the buckle attaching his backpack to his body, and slid it off, presenting it to Daichi. "I brought some!"
