Amora

I ran a hand through my hair with a sigh as I pushed past the white swinging door. I walked into the now lit up kitchen from the sun that poured through by the open, curtain less windows.

I always hated how dad never added curtains. It always gave me the icks of the thought of someone watching me while I came downstairs for my little late food runs when I couldn't sleep. But I grew use to not mind it anymore I suppose.

I glanced at dad that sat at the table as I walked passed him and towards the fridge. Leaning back on one leg as I opened up the door and scanned through the food items.

I soon glanced back to see dad that slowly lowered the newspaper in his hand. He perked up an eyebrow and examined me.

"What's up with you?" He suddenly questioned, resting the newspaper onto the table before crossing his arms.

"Nothing.. why?" I replied, furrowing my eyebrows as I turned back towards the fridge in front of me.

It was silent before he stifled a snicker. "Where's that boyfriend of yours? You told me he was busy the last time I needed help with my work crap. Haven't seen him around in months?"

"Papa- you know you know you aren't supposed to be eating any bread. Those are just carbs that'll turn into sugar and sit there in your stomach, you really know your doctor would not be happy with that?" I scolded, whipping around and pointing down towards the toast on his plate.

"Quit trying to change the subject on me, what happened with you and that boy? I got massive stacks of papers now that haven't been organized because of him!" he exclaimed, throwing his hands up with a tired huff.

I sighed at his question, whilst pulling out a carton of orange juice. "Yeah well.. sorry papa but, you're going to have to just do them by yourself"

"Why?" He questioned, knitting his eyebrows in confusion as he brought up his coffee cup to his lips.

"Just are. Sorry dad" I replied softly, pouring the juice into a red plastic cup.

I patted his shoulder as I walked past him. Sipping onto the cup of juice in my hand, I made my back towards the living room.

I managed to make halfway through the living room, pausing in my tracks when hearing the doorbell ring.

I closed my eyes, my head falling with a sigh. I turned around and hesitantly walked up to the door.

I opened up the door to see Carrie and Madeline who both now stood in front of me.
Immediately shooting their heads over in my direction once the door opened.

"Oh. Hey guys" I greeted, resting my shoulder against the doorframe.

"Hi. We wanted to ask if..you still want to come with us? We're all going to hang out. You know, we only have a few weeks of summer left?" Carrie informed, looking to Madeline who nodded with her.

"Want to come?" Madeline now questioned, giving me a hopeful smile.

I stared at the two, tugging my lip between my teeth as I thought carefully to myself.
