The first thing that came to mind when my eyes opened was how fucking bright it was. Like, could somebody turn down the sun please?
Then I remembered what happened and I sat up with a start.
How was I alive? Where was I? Meliodas...
I jumped out of bed and sprinted down a hall, to where I heard voices talking. I approached warily, and cautiously stuck my head out of the doorway.
Meliodas' messy blond hair was staring back at me.
"M-" I began, but stopped short.
Because a man with pink hair stood naked in front of us.
Elizabeth gasped.
"Can't unsee that," Meliodas said, unamused.
"I was out for not more than a few hours, and you guys are getting naked? What crazy traditions changed from 3000 years ago?" I deadpanned.
Everyone turned to me.
"You're awake, thank goodness," Elizabeth smiled.
"Yeah, I'm all good, thanks."
"Yo, Preli," Meliodas grinned, high fiving me.
I looked at the naked man, who had a strangely feminine face. "Nice to meet you, naked stranger. I'm Prelialduis."
The man looked at me. "Hello. I am Gowther, the Goat Sin of Lust. Sparkle!"
He held out his hand in a peace sign near his face and winked.
Adding that to his nakedness, it was a very awkward first meeting.
Though, strangely, it didn't feel like a first meeting. That name...Gowther. It was eerily familiar.
Gowther wrapped the towel back around his waist.
"By the way," Meliodas interjected, "are you okay now?"
"In what way?" Gowther asked.
"Well, in the way..." Meliodas trailed off. "You remember."
He looked at my brother, puzzled, before lifting up his wrist, where a strange purple metal bracelet sat. "No need to worry about me losing control! I've got this restraint bracelet to keep me from doing so. It's Merlin's magic item, a prototype of the Peace Amulet."
"So did you put that on yourself?"
"No," he replied.
A voice appeared from nowhere. "I managed to put it on him when he wasn't looking."
"Uh huh," Gowther agreed, knocking his head on the side for effect.
That voice. I hadn't been with this new group of my brothers for long, but it definitely sounded familiar.
"That voice," Slader echoed my thoughts.
"Merlin!" Arthur exclaimed, turning towards the statue of the mage.
A green orb floated next to her. "I'm right here," it said, in a voice that was unmistakably hers.
"Incredible!" Hawk marveled. "The little ball can talk."
"It's Merlin's Sacred Treasure," Meliodas informed him.
"Before my body turned to stone completely, I transferred my soul to the Morningstar Aldan," Merlin said.
"Thank goodness," Arthur said.
"Wait, is this a good thing?" Hawk asked.
"No," Merlin replied. "It's inconvenient not to have a body. The Commandment placed on me cannot be reversed, even with my magical powers. According to Galand these commandments derive their power from the Demon King himself. The only thing that can challenge it would be the Goddess race's power. The greatest threat of all, however, is the sheer strength of Galand himself. Even with his magical powers depleted, our combined strength wasn't even enough to slow him down."
