Dixie Grim opened her eyes and became confused. She wasn't at home. Or in the hospital. Or next to her sister in a grave. She was in a dark place, with only a sliver of a green sky showing through.

"What happened? Where am I?"

She pushed the stone slab aside until she could stand up. She looked horrific. Bone showed on her arms from her flesh being decayed. Her eyeliner and eyeshadow smeared to create a smoky ring around her eyes. Her clothes were torn and frayed at the ends.

She stumbled, looking around sluggishly. She noticed she was in a graveyard and slightly panicked. "How did I get here?" She thought for a moment. "Alyssa. This is one of her jokes. Good one!"

She stumbled backward, falling. She gasped when she saw a plaque of her name on a tombstone. That was her tomb. She was dead, but she was also living.

Someone rang a bell, startling her. She ran, screaming toward the gate.

"Are you nuts? Where are you going?" a girl questioned. "Wait, don't leave!"

Dixie finally pushed the doors open and escaped. She yelled for help, crying. She screamed as wolf ghosts surrounded her. They looked about ready to take a bite out of her.

"Don't stand there! Run! What are you waiting for?"

Dixie made the right decision and started running toward the graveyard. The wolves tried to get in, but were blocked by a blue light. The mysterious girl closed the gate with a snap. "Wow, you did it," the girl laughed. "Go, look at them. It's like you slammed the door right in their faces."

Dixie walked up to the gate and saw the two ghost wolves on the ground. The bigger one looked like it was about to attack them, but then shooed the two away from the gate.

"What's wrong? Why are they leaving?" Dixie asked worriedly.

"Aw, don't worry. Dark angels are incapable of entering the holy graveyards," the girl explained.

"What do they want?" Dixie asked.

"They capture zombies who've wandered away from their cemeteries and turn them into Nebulosa, the dark soul. And we never see them again," the girl explained.

"Zombies? You can't be serious. That's impossible! What do you mean?" Dixie said in disbelief.

"Yes. The living dead," the girl said simply.

"Who are you?" Dixie eyed her suspiciously.

"My name is Isis," she introduced herself.

"Wow," Dixie freaked out.

"I could use a good bath. It's such a shame that water destroys zombies. But how would you know that? You're new!" Isis said.

"No." Dixie shook her head.

"Yes, it kills us just as fast as sunlight or fire," Isis continued.

"No way," Dixie repeated.

"At first, it's hard to believe, but you'll get used to it," Isis added.

Dixie looked at her hands, realizing what she truly was. "No!"
