NEWS ABOUT CASSIOPEIA LANDING HERSELF IN DETENTION WITH HARRY POTTER HAD REACHED ALMOST EVERY EAR IN HOGWARTS BY MORNING. She noticed that most Slytherins were looking at her oddly when she entered the Common Room to go to breakfast. Many were staring confusingly, wondering why she did it, but she simply walked past them with her head held high. She'd be damned if she was going to give people who believed silly and nasty rumors the time of day.
It wasn't until she walked into the Great Hall that Cassiopeia really started to get annoyed. Throughout the corridors, people whispered behind their hands and gave her disgusted looks. Some of them who believed that the Dark Lord had returned gave soft smiles as if she was on their side. But when she entered the candlelit hall, every head in the room snapped in her direction and stared for a few moments before hushed chatter and whispers erupted. As she walked to the Slytherin table with Draco, she heard bits of conversations.
"Did you hear what Cassiopeia Coldwell did in Defence Against the Dark Arts?"
"She defended Harry Potter!"
"Cassiopeia believes that You-Know-Who is back and that he killed Cedric Diggory!"
"She stood up to Umbridge! Maybe she's with us believers!"
As she took her seat next to Draco at the Slytherin table, Cassiopeia sent a glower at the rest of the students who were staring and whispering about her. A cold chill ran through the hall and everyone turned away, talking about something else. If looks could kill, almost every student in the Great Hall would've been dead right then and there.
"Toast, Cass?" Thalia offered and passed a tray of toast to her sister.
"Yeah, whatever," She grumbled, loading pieces of sourdough toast onto her plate along with some scrambled eggs and sausages.
Cassiopeia's mind was off in another world throughout breakfast. She was busy thinking of other things. She was thinking of Umbridge and the stupid detention that she would have to serve with her and Harry tonight. She was thinking of how every student in Hogwarts thought she somehow stood on Harry and Dumbledore's side just because she believed the Dark Lord was back. She was thinking about what her father would say when he found out about what she did. She was thinking of how much homework she was going to have and how she was going to pass her O.W.Ls.
Thinking, thinking, thinking. Cassiopeia started to wish that she could stop thinking.
But her brain soon grew fuzzy as her eyes carelessly drifted over to the Gryffindor table and landed on the redhead who captured her heart so many months ago. Cassiopeia didn't know why she was always glancing over at the Gryffindor table and staring at the youngest Weasley brother so often but she really wasn't complaining. She would much rather stare at Ron than at Goyle shoving slices of bacon down his throat.
Cassiopeia studied how much the boy had changed over the summer. His hair no longer fell below his chin and was cut short so you could see his ears. He was taller, at least having grown two inches since she saw him last. His shirts were more tighter around the arms and his shoulders were more broad. Cassiopeia noticed that he seemed overall more mature than last year. His manner had changed completely.
