is it too soon to like someone?

nanako found herself rather comfortable with her new volleyball team. in just two months, she had refreshed her memories of being a team manager, bonded with each player, and could now proudly say she was a nekoma high student.

although kuroo intimidated her at the beginning, he became the one member she could rely on to understand new concepts and strategies for future games. she had to admit, nekoma high's players were undeniably intelligent, especially kozume kenma.

the setter barely interacted with her, but she was fine with it. nanako liked sitting with him, since she knew he wouldn't cause much trouble for her and would simply concentrate on whatever electronic device he had in his hands. and of course, with kenma came shotaro.

osaki shotaro. the moment she saw him, she could feel her face practically boil with the amount of heat radiating off of it. not only was he attractive, but he was the kindest player on the team with above-average athletic abilities and good grades. plus, he had a dog just as sweet as him who would visit the team after saturday practice.

nanako was a sucker for dogs. she absolutely adored them and anyone with a dog could capture her heart in a millisecond. especially a boy who had the cutest eyes she had ever laid hers upon with an adorable smile to match it.

the team manager couldn't deny that feelings for shotaro had already emerged, even though she only knew him for two months. she would always furrow her eyebrows while reflecting about that: was she already developing feelings for a volleyball player?

but every single time she interacted with shotaro, she would forget about all of her concerns and fall into the moment. of course, she had other worries such as the boy not returning the same feelings, but as long as he never found out she figured that there was no reason to worry.

"nanako!"

a voice broke her train of thoughts. she blinked, realizing that she was still in her classroom, class 1-1. the windows were open, letting the light summer breeze inside. she looked up, seeing inuoka leaning over her desk.

"what is it?" she asked.

"it's lunchtime! remember, today kuroo-san told us to meet up."

nanako hummed before jolting straight up in her seat and packing away her history notebook and textbook. "shit, you're right! i always forget about kuroo-san's lunch meetings."

she quickly zipped up her backpack, hooking the straps around her desk's chair. inuoka grabbed his wallet and said, "let's go!"

the two first-years headed over to the canteen, which was already packed with students. they squeezed into the extremely long lunch line and sanitized their hands as they waited to move up.

"oh, the third years are already there!" inuoka exclaimed, eyeing a specific table.

nanako followed his gaze. indeed, the three third years on their team were already at their designated table, checking their phones with bites of food in between.

"kenma, shotaro, and yamamoto-san! what a coincidence that you're behind us!"

the team manager's eyes widened as she felt her body stiffen at inuoka's words. a very familiar light chuckle could be heard from behind her. she could already see those smiling eyes curled up on his face.
