a day of weak, betrayed smiles.

"have you seen my phone?"

nanako searched through her futon and bags, attempting to find her phone that had been missing since last night.

"are you sure you didn't leave it in the restroom?" kiyoko questioned, applying sunscreen on her face.

nanako shook her head. "i double-checked both the restroom and the showers, but it wasn't there?"

"what about the kitchen?"

"miyanoshita-san said she couldn't find anything."

"any of the gyms?"

nanako furrowed her eyebrows. "that was when i last had it--when i was in the gym before meal duty last night."

"and you were with osaki, right?" kiyoko continued.

"yes- wait, how did you know?"

kiyoko playfully rolled her eyes and looked at the nekoma manager. "of course you wold be with him. as if you two didn't confess to each other during break yesterday."

"y- you knew?" nanako stuttered, trying to stop the blush rising on her cheeks.

"everyone knows, nanako," the karasuno manager corrected, laughing a little before grabbing the lip gloss in her toiletries bag. "why else would you two be outside for a good ten minutes only to come back in with bright red faces?"

nanako pressed her lips into a thin line.

"anyways, you should go talk to him," kiyoko continued. "he might know where your phone is."

the nekoma manager nodded and stood up from the ground. "thanks, kiyoko-san," she said before leaving the managers' assigned room.

moving to the room next door, nanako knocked on classroom 3-2's door three times. she could hear kuroo yell a "come in!", letting her know that she was allowed to enter.

she was pleasantly amused at the state of the futons on the floor. somehow, they perfectly explained the boys' personalities and sleeping habits.

"what do you need, yama-nana?" kuroo questioned as he flipped through the previous day's practice match scores.

"is shotaro here?" nanako asked. she was sure that at this point, there was no way she could convince kuroo to stop using his invented nickname, meaning that she simply had to suffer with being called the idiotic name.

"why? you two gonna make out or something?" the team captain snickered, grinning suggestively.

in a split second, his smile dropped. "but seriously, if you two are gonna have a make-out session get out of the room."

nanako rolled her eyes, trying to ignore the light heat on her cheeks. "no, i just need to ask him something."

"he's over there with kenma," kuroo stated, gesturing towards a corner of the classroom with his head.

the nekoma manager thanked kuroo before heading over to the corner. as she approached them, she could feel kenma's cat-like eyes piercing hers as he paused his game to look up.

shotaro had his knees to his chest with his chin resting on top of them and his arms hugging them close. his round eyes stared at nanako as she walked closer to the duo.

for some reason, shotaro's eyes didn't hold the same sparkle they usually did, unlike the day before. but nanako brushed off the uneasy feeling and stopped in front of them with a smile.
