"Sergeant Barnes. The procedure was successful. You are to be the new fist of HYDRA." Zola gleefully said as he leered down on him.

Bucky looked up at him. Confused. In shock.

"Where am I? Who are you?" He yelled. His voice very weak. His restraints holding him down to the table he was on. He started ripping them forcefully, his body begging to be released from his chains.

"Silence soldat!" Zola raised his voice and backhanded him forcefully across his face.

Bucky shot up from his sleep with a weak scream, cold sweat all over his body. He breathed heavily as he searched his surroundings.

No HYDRA base. No restraints. No lab workers. No Zola.

He realized he was still in Steve's apartment. It made a small part of him more at ease, but not entirely.

He couldn't keep it in anymore. Tears started spilling from his eyes before he could stop them. He sat up further on his couch and a sob left his throat. He shook with each sob, he just couldn't seem to stop.

Then he noticed some noise coming from inside Steve's room.

Shit

Before he could pretend to be asleep again, Steve stepped out of his room and into the living room. The moonlight from the window shining on him.

"Buck?" He said in a raspy voice.

Bucky tried to stop crying, he really did. But it didn't really work out in his favor.

"Mhm." It came out very muffled as he buried his face in his own arms. Holding his knees against his chest.

"Hey, hey, hey Buck. It's okay." Steve quickly said as he saw Buckys state, rushing forwards to his side. "Hey, you're alright." He said in a soothing voice and placed a gentle hand on Buckys knee. Bucky flinched and whimpered at the touch. "Hey, do you wanna tell me what's wrong?" Steve asked with concern.

"It's nothing.. I-I'm alright Steve." Bucky tried to sound convincing but that couldn't fool anyone.

"Nightmares?" Steve asked. Bucky not answering was all the answer Steve needed. "It's okay Buck. You don't have to be ashamed. I also get them sometimes."

"O-okay."

"It's okay. You're safe. It's not real Buck. I won't let anybody hurt you." Steve said with a smile. Bucky still wouldn't look at him, he was still hiding his face inside his arms.

"Do you want me to stay with you?" Steve asked gently. Bucky hesitated for a second before slowly nodding.

"Okay. I'll stay." Steve smiled. "Do you wanna go back to sleep?"

"N-not really." Bucky said with a weak voice.

"O-okay, that's fine. We can watch a movie maybe. That sound good?"

"Okay, that sounds good."

"Great." Steve smiled. "Now scoot over so I can fit." He chuckled. Bucky obliged and moved to the side of the couch. Wiping away the tears from his face in the process.

Steve ended up putting on Star Wars: A New Hope because neither of them had watched Star Wars before and they were both pretty interested.

After putting in the DVD, Steve walked back to the couch.

"Is it okay for me to sit next to you?" He softly asked his friend.

"Okay sure," Bucky answered, needing to feel comforted.
