Steve awoke suddenly by the sunlight hitting his face, leaking into his room from the window. Today was the 1st of December. It was especially good weather today, the snow was shining on the streets and so was the sun. Steve planned on getting Bucky outside of the house today. He knew he was paranoid but Steve just couldn't let him sit around in the house forever.
Steve grabbed the duvet and pulled it of off him, he stood up in his grey sweatpants and bare torso and stretched his still-sleepy limbs, pulling his arms way over his head and lifting them high to touch the ceiling.
He dragged himself out of his room and into the living room but stopped dead in his tracks from the sight he saw on the couch.
Bucky was laying on his side with a blanket around him, his right arm was out of the blanket, softly petting the white little cat that was pressed up tightly to him.
Steve smiled fondly at the pair and leant against the doorway to simply just admire them for a little while. Bucky looked so peaceful in his sleep, his hair all messy and his expression soft. He really loved his little kitten, Steve most certainly did not regret getting him one, this way he would never ever feel alone again, Steve knew that now. Of course, he liked it when Bucky seemed to need him more, but he was fine with him having a new cuddle buddy.
Steve stood there for a few minutes, he considered taking a picture of them but maybe that be a little too weird, that would be invading their privacy, right? He couldn't decide until he heard a sleepy voice speak up.
"Stevie you can stop staring now, it's getting kinda creepy." Bucky murmured from the couch, his eyes still closed and were still satisfying Alpine with his gentle touch. Steve blushed a deep red and spluttered.
"N-no, I-I wasn't.. h-how did you..?" Steve coughed and regained himself. "I didn't know you were awake, Buck." He said and scratched the back of his neck.
"I have been for the last 15 minutes, Steve. Did you think I was just petting Alpine in my sleep?" He said with a giggle.
"I-I didn't mean to be weird.. i-it's just.. you looked so peaceful and I just.. I don't know.. sorry." Steve sputtered out.
"No, no don't apologize." Bucky laughed. "But you could've taken a picture.. just so you know.. til next time." Bucky said and settled back into the couch.
"I-I.. okay." Steve said with a sigh. He walked into the kitchen. "You gonna have some breakfast or are you just going to cuddle with Alpine?"
"I think somebody is jealous." Bucky sang. Steve just rolled his eyes. "Not very hungry.." He said in a sadder tone. Steve sighed and walked back into the living room.
"You could've come into my room." Steve said with sad eyes.
"What?" Bucky asked, playing dumb and sat up on the couch, the blanket falling off him and displaying his bare chest.
"You're 'never hungry' the day after you've had a nightmare." Steve said with a sad tone.
"I-I didn't wanna disturb you. You deal with enough of my shit during the day, I could at least let you have your good sleep." Bucky said and looked down to the ground.
"Bucky.. I would sleep better knowing you're alright." Steve said and placed his hand on top of Buckys after sitting down on the couch, next to him. "Promise me you'll come to me next time it happens, okay?"
"Okay." Bucky whispered and looked up at Steve with a small smile.
"Great." Steve smiled back at him. "Now c'mon, let's go eat breakfast. I have some plans for us today that I'd like to talk about."
