Starting life in a New School: a Re:Zero fanfic

Thirteen

Subaru didn't know what to do now. He'd frozen up, all full of this idea of a gallant knight or some sort of shadowing hero. Well, all hope of that is completely out the window, because now he'd called to the threat unable to do anything.

Priscilla turned around, holding a fan to her snooty face. "Ufufufu, what do you want new blood?" She said to him, in a most condescending manner. Subaru flared vertically down, he was taller but that didn't make him stronger.

Subaru couldn't move. He'd frozen himself with fear and regret, but he wasn't going to go anywhere. He still held a death-before-dishonour ideal. He wasn't going to run away.

"Well if you aren't going to answer me, then that means I'm going to have to..."

Subaru closed his eyes as Priscilla raised her hand to smack his weak, dainty, foolish face.
Fortunately for him, the smack never made contact. Unfortunately for him, when he opened his eyes, he caught sight of a giant
lion-esque being, with fur colour like a wolf. The air temperature was dropping, and his Silver-haired angel was panicking, even looking a little faint.

"Subaru, you idiot. Don't pick a fight you can't win." The giant creature said.

Subaru ran to Emilia, who was on the verge of passing out. Rem, Ram and Felix were also nearby, and offered to hold her straight. Subaru didn't know whether he'd completely trust them, but he had little choice.

"Now, you will disappear for the pain you put my daughter through" spoke the apparition.

At that second, Petelgeuse and a bunch of creepy familiars came in, Mumbling something about Love and Trembling brains. They didn't last awfully long.

"YOU ARE IN MY WAY" bellowed the apparition's mighty howl as he began to freeze the bodies of them alive, Petelgeuse madly cackling as he did so. Subaru found it a little peculiar, that when Petelgeuse was iced, the ice seemed to stretch out like tentacles from his back. Also, he could've sworn the frostbitten corpse of the creep wasn't staring at him before, was it?

"Subaru we have to go!" Said Frederica, clinging onto his arm.

"Yeah, right away!" He agreed.

Rem, Ram, Frederica, Subaru and Felix all ran to the door, Emilia in arms. Three of six made it out. The other three were still inside. Two by force, one by choice.

"What?!" Subaru spoke in disbelief. The school was literally crashing down, now is not the time for being trapped in a building!
"Emilia can't leave either! Why?!" He said.
"Subaru, what's happening?!" Frederica yelled from the other side. He didn't know, but a hand had sprouted from his chest. It was a blackish-purple creation, stretching and winding.
"This hand.. Can anyone else see it! There's a hand in my chest!"
"Subaru, you've gyone mad!" Felix said. "There is nyo hand there!"
Subaru thought to himself before realising: the state Petelgeuse gave him... was a transfer of power... and the icy tentacles... were invisible hands!
"Okay... Guys, I'm going to fight it!" Subaru said, laying Emilia down near the exit.
Rem and Ram evacuated themselves, but Frederica stayed, crying slightly.
"No! You can't! I won't let you!"
"I have to, it's the only way! Please, let me defeat it! I will return!"
"Subaru..."
Frederica cried as she ran away, following the twins. Subaru and Felix ran in the other direction.
"Felix, why haven't you ran?"
"I'm not leaving without Crusch-sama! I owe my life to her and will dyo whatever it tyakes!"
"Okay.."
Subaru went to fight the beast while Felix looked for his saviour.

"Bold of you to come back after I saved you." Said the horrific monster.
"You already know me as Puck. This is my true power!"

"Puck... whatever you are... I'm gonna stop you! Subaru said, calling forth his new weapon.

"Unseen hand!"
