Ned's P.O.V

"MJ?" I scrambled to the edge of the cliff, leaning over to look for her but there was no sign "MJ!!" Suddenly, a blur of bright gold light shot up past me, flying over my head and landing on one of the sand dunes. I whirled around to see MJ lying there, sand everywhere, her body still giving off a faint golden glow.

MJ stared at me in shock until I finally said "... So you can fly?"

She burst out laughing at this "I guess so." Her face fell slightly, a wistful distant look developing "I remember one time, when I was 5, I was climbing a tree and I fell. I would have hit the ground, hard, but I... I don't know what happened. I just sort of floated to safety. I remember it was the best feeling in the world. It was like I was flying. I always dismissed it as a kid's overactive imagination, but maybe... Maybe I really was flying. My dad - Fury - wasn't even surprised. That - that's the only memory I have of him from when I was a kid."

I shot up abruptly "Fury."

"Yeah, what about him?"

"Your dad is Nick Fury."

"Yeah, I've told you this already."

"No, I mean, your dad is Nick Fury. The same Fury who was in charge of SHIELD, and who assembled the Avengers, and has dealt with superheroes for decades. What if that's something to do with how you got your powers? Like, some superhero or alien thing."

"That - that could be it, but... How would we find out?"

"Do you have a way of contacting him?"

MJ shook her head "He - he visited me a few times after he first told me he was my dad, but the last time I saw him, it was like he was saying goodbye. I think he was going off on a mission or something, but he wouldn't tell me anything about it."

"Maybe there's some other way of finding out, like if Peter asks the Avengers, or..."

A voice from beyond the ridge of the hill said "They would probably have files in the Avengers Tower."

We both turned to see a small girl coming over the hill, maybe 15 years old. Her hair was auburn with dark pink streaks and she wore a battered pink leather jacket over a neon orange top with writing on it that, for some reason, I couldn't get my mind to focus on. Timidly, she said "Hi, uh, my name's Amy-Rose - sorry for eavesdropping, but I was just exploring when I saw the blasts of energy and I couldn't help but investigate."

I was more preoccupied on what she'd said before "The Avengers Tower? Yeah, yeah maybe they'd have some documents or files on these powers, or at least give us some clue as to where they came from."

"But they cleared out the Avengers Tower when they all moved to the Avengers Facility."

"Well, maybe they missed something. Or maybe Peter can use EDITH, or talk to the Avengers, or something."

"Wait, you guys know Peter? Parker? The mortal?"

To be honest, that was not what I had expected her to say. I was expecting something more along the lines of 'Peter Parker, that super awesome hero Spider-Man?'

MJ seemed equally as confused as me "Mortal?"

"Yeah. He - Percy Jackson invited him to Camp this morning, and mortals almost never come to Camp. Everyone was talking about it."

"Camp? Camp Half-Blood, like your top?" MJ asked, which I didn't understand because the writing on Amy-Rose's top still looked like a mess of undecipherable gibberish to me.

(A/N: For some reason, I feel like MJ would be able to see through the Mist but Ned wouldn't)

Before we could discuss this further, MJ's phone rang and she picked up, putting it on speaker.

Peter's voice came through, loud and excited "MJ, I figured out what I recognised your powers from!"

"What?"

"Your - your powers, I recognised them but I couldn't place it. It's like Captain Marvel's powers - her blasts are exactly the same."

Captain Marvel? But... What did that mean?

Peter continued "I don't know how it's connected, but I feel like it has to be somehow. Maybe we could find out how if we had access to SHIELD or the Avengers' files on Captain Marvel, but,"

"We had a plan, well an idea really, that maybe if we looked in the Avengers Tower, and you used Edith or something, we could find some files on these powers, or on Captain Marvel now." I said

"That might work, but if we're going to break in to the old base of the Avengers, we're going to need more than just the 3 of us."

"Break in? You're friends with the Avengers, couldn't you just - "

"I've barely met the Avengers, and one time I was fighting against half of them, the other times we were trying to stop Thanos destroying the world. I didn't even really know any of them, except for Mr Stark. I know where their Avengers Facility is, but there's no guarantee they'll be there, and even if they are I can't bother them about something like this."

"So, breaking into the Avengers Tower. That sounds fun." MJ said "You said we'd need more than just the three of us?"

"Four of us." Amy-Rose corrected "I'm coming too."

"Who's that?"

"Amy-Rose, she, uh, found us talking about MJ's powers and she's the one who came up with the idea about the Avengers Tower."

"What? Where are you?"

"Uh," I hesitated "The hill right next to you."

"You followed me?" He sounded exasperated, but he was stifling a laugh "I guess I should have expected that. Ok then, the four of us. And... I think I've got some friends here who can help."
