Chapter 30

Theo’s POV-

We are home from our honeymoon and we are on our way to the doctors to find out how far along Shai is with our baby.

We arrive and as I walk, while holding hands with Shai, I realize that I am going to be a dad. Me. With the love of my life. This is the best.

We walk into the doctors and sit in the waiting room. After about 10 minutes, we are called into a back room.

I ask Shai, “Ready?”

“Ready as I’ll ever be.”

We walk into the room and meet the doctor. She says, “Hi my name is Dr. Sanders and I will be your doctor throughout your pregnancy.”

I nod my head and so does Shai. We talk to her about basic stuff, including when she found out. 

Then the doctor says, “Ok Shailene, I am going to need you to lie down in this chair and lift up your shirt just a little bit.”

Shai lies down and does what she says. She spreads a gel on her stomach and the doctor says, “Now I am going to let you see the baby and tell you how far you are.”

She takes the stick to see the baby and rubs it around Shai’s belly. Then a picture appears. It is our baby. It is small, yet still visible to see.

I take Shai’s hand and squeeze it. I look into her eyes and tears start to build up in our eyes. 

“Shai, the baby’s beautiful. No matter how small.”

“I know, Theo. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

The doctor interrupts our moment by saying, “Shai, it looks like you are about 5 weeks along. The baby looks healthy and just be careful throughout your pregnancy.”

Shai says, “Thank you. For everything.”

I look at Shai and knew that this was one of the best moments of my life.
