Chapter 21

Theo’s POV-

My heart rate starts again as I think I am loaded onto a vehicle of some sort. My throat is swollen and my lungs can’t seem to bring in a lot of oxygen. I try to open my eyes, but I am too weak to do anything.

Then I am being rolled away into an unknown area.

Shai’s POV-

I am anxiously sitting in the waiting room, searching for answers on how this happened. Why us? Why is it always us?!

My head is cradled in my hands, when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I look up, and it’s Zoe and Miles. I give them a small smile, but with little effort.

Zoe says sympathetically, “Hey, Shai. You doing okay?”

“Yeah, I’m okay. Just worried.”

Then Miles says, “Well just know that we will always be here for you Shai.”

I nod my head, then notice a doctor coming our way. I say to the doctor, “Is he okay? Can I see him?!”

“Yes, you may see him. He is stable and will be fine.”

I breathe out quickly, glad that Theo is okay. I say, “How did this happen?”

“Well, it seems that he was stressed and his heart seemed to give out. Just keep him calm and collected and he will be fine. You can see him if you want, but only close family.”

I give Zoe and Miles a smile and head to Theo’s room. I open the door slowly, careful to not scare him. I was in this situation once. Theo had to deal with this. His stress is all my fault.

“Hey, Theo,” I say quietly, sitting in a chair next to his bed.

Theo opens his eyes and says with a soft voice, “Hey.”

“Are you alright?”

“Yeah, I’m fine. I guess my heart just needed a break,” Theo says, giving a slight laugh.

“It’s all my fault..”

“It’s not, Shai. You did nothing. I just put too much stress on myself about kissing Ruth and all the guilt just took its toll on me. I’ll be fine, Shai.”

“I love you, Theo,” I say with a tear rolling down my cheek. Theo then wipes it away, but weakly.

“I love you too.”
