"Tell me the prettiest place in Hilo," I say, smirking to Keanna from the driver's seat.
"Umm... there are some Japanese gardens," she says, tapping her fingers in the edge of her seat and smirking back.
"You really want to go there, right?" I ask. She giggles and nods. "Then we shall go there. Where it is?"
"It's... beside your hotel, actually," she says, laughing.
"What?" I ask and she nods. "Are there more places hidden near there?"
"There are a few others," she says.
"I only got three days left here," I say, leaving out a sigh. "I hope we can visit them all."
"We?" she asks.
"The guys, me, you maybe," I reply. She blushes and looks away. I smile and turn on the van.
"Malia and I... oh well, it's stupid," she says after a while.
"What? Tell me," I say, laughing.
"Well, we placed a colorful lock in a metal banister of the gardens like they do in France," she says, smiling, "you know, like... resembling how much we love each other as sisters and so on."
"Is it the same as you were young?" I ask.
"No," she says. "I ask her to hang out and she always ignores me or tells me she has plans already."
"Gemma and I... we still are the same," I say, making Keanna laugh. "We still play with each other, fight with each other."
"I'd love to meet her," Keanna says. "Does she looks like you?"
"Some people say she looks a lot like me," I reply, starting to drive.
"So she must be pretty," she says. I raise one of my eyebrows.
"Are you calling me pretty, Keanna?" I ask, making her to laugh.

"I know this place like the palm of my hand," Keanna says, and as we walk beneath some trees, she starts telling me a few things about this place.
She tells me that this gardens are named after the last queen Hawaii had, Liliuokalani. The park was built by the 1900's in honor of thousands of Japanese immigrants who worked at the local pagoda at the Queen's plantations.
"Pagoda?" I ask.
"It is a typical Japanese tower," she replies.
We walk by the wooden entrance of the park, which is a typical Japanese one. It seems old and about to break in any moment. I look back at Keanna, who gets two gums from the pockets of her jeans. Today, she's wearing a casual style for a cool day, using a blue colorful shirt under a green lumberjack jacket, matching green shoes, and dark blue jeans.
"Do you want a peppermint gum?" she asks.
"Yes, thank you," I say, feeling that the mint taste the toothpaste leaved in my mouth in the morning has already faded away. I bite the gum slowly as we walk towards the first bridge of the park.
It's about a meter high, so water can be appreciated. Keanna stares at it and then at the sky. She keeps being distracted and I take advantage of that and join my hand with hers. She turns to see me and smiles.
The back part of the hotel can't be seen, luckily. It's already 2:30 and maybe the guys are starting to decorate the place.
We end up staring at the water in another typical Japanese building. When she looks around the place, she gasps.
"There's the lock," she says, laughing. I smile and walk where she was staring at, and yes, there was a lock in the banister, darkened by its rust. "Malia would love it."
She laughs once again and shakes her head.
"How adorable," I say, laughing. "How bad that I don't have a lock."
"For what?" she asks.
"For putting it besides that one, resembling you and I," I say. She stares at me, blushing.
"I don't have one either," she says, grinning.
Keanna grabs my hand and we walk back to the grass. I see a small flower in the ground and get on my knees to pick it. I stand back up and give it to her.
"A bird told me your birthday's next week," I say.
"A bird," she says, giggling and staring at the flower.
"And the bad thing is that I won't be here, so," I continue, "I got your gift earlier."
"What?" she asks, surprised. "You bought me something?"
"Yes," I say, smiling widely because of how surprised she is. "And we are going to the hotel so you can wear it."

"It's wonderful!" Keanna keeps exclaiming form the bathroom while I sit in one of the beds of the bedroom. I thank the guys that they made the beds, because then I would be so ashamed to bring Keanna to the room.
"Get out so I can see you!" I exclaim back.
When she opens the bathroom door and walks out with her bag on, I notice something; she looks more than wonderful in yellow. She has already put on the boots I bought for her. She pulls her hair out of the neck of the dress and smiles widely. I stand up, smirking, and walk towards her.
"You look great," I say.
"Thank you so much," she says, smirking back. She gives me a kiss in one of my cheeks and hugs me tight.
"You have nothing to thank."
"Of course I do. I have a very long list."
"Give me some examples."
She laughs. "Thank you for making me smile, thank you for helping me, thank you for supporting me, thank you for staying besides me... thank you."
"Aw. You are welcome," I say. Then I remember that we have to go downstairs. "Hey, I need to show you something."
We separate and I grab her hand, walking out of the room.
"Another surprise?" Keanna asks in a repetitive tone, jokingly. I smile but keep quiet. When we get to the last steps of the stairs, I hear my phone ringing.
"I got to answer," I say, seeing Madison's name on the screen of the phone. I walk away until I get to a private place and answer. "Is everything ready?"
"Yes," Madison says, laughing. Some voices are heard on the back. "Are you coming?"
"Yeah, we are almost out," I reply.
"They are coming!" she shouts to everyone there. Some gasps and screams are heard. "Hide!"
"Gosh, calm down," I say, laughing.
"If you knew these people, you couldn't calm down, seriously," she replies.
"Well, be ready and quiet," I say.
"She will be so surprised," Madison says. "See you in a minute lovebird."
"Ha-ha, very funny," I reply before she laughs and hangs up.
I walk back with Keanna, who has her arms crossed and waits impatiently. I laugh and so she does. I grab her hand once again and I make her run out of the hotel.
"What are you planning?" she asks out of breathe. I walk slower as I remember what can happen when she runs, but I don't show her I am worried for a while.
When we finally get to the back, there's no one. Nobody. There are just beautiful decorations, a bar, and music. But nobody. Or they are hiding really well or they ran out because the ice cream car passed near here.
Keanna opens her mouth to say something, but before she's able to do that, everybody appears. People get out from bushes, from behind the trees, or behind the bar, even from inside the pool. Keanna gasps surprised and laughs.
"Surprise!" everybody shouts. Josie, Madison, Tanya, Anna, Ethan, Carter, the boys, and some other people come to hug Keanna. When they finish, Josie comes toward us. She then bows toward Keanna and places a flower wreath around her neck. She then almost does the same with me, but Keanna stops her.
Josie nods, smiling, and gives the wreath to Keanna. When Josie walks away, Keanna stares me and smirks.
"Some people give a lei bowing, and then putting it on around the other's neck," she starts, walking closer to me. "But others just give a kiss and then put it."
She leaves a kiss in my lips before I can react and place the "lei" around my neck.
