"Harry, what's going on?" Keanna asks, getting out of her house. "Your face is really pale, it's like you saw a ghost."
"How ironic, because that's what I saw," I say with a forced smile.
"Woah, woah," she says with widened eyes, placing her hands in both of my shoulders. "What did you said bro?"
"I am serious Keanna," I reply, laughing nervously. "I saw a group ghosts marching toward me with bright torches and chanting in an weird language."Keanna frowns as she sees I am not joking and hugs me tightly. I hug her back and start shaking as I remember what happened. Though, I calm down as I start feeling her breathe upon my neck and her warmness embracing my body. That's what I needed, a hug. Her hugs can fix anything.
"Let's get inside, it's getting cold," she says, separating from our hug and rubbing her hands together. "I will make ourselves some hot chocolate."
I step inside her house and sit in the couch while she gets in the kitchen. After a few minutes, she gets back with me bringing two cups with hot chocolate. She gives one to me and I take a sip as she turns on fire inside the chimney.
I change my mind about what I said before. Her hugs and her hot chocolate can fix anything.
She sits beside me with her cup after turning the fire on and sighs, tired. "So I am not the only one," Keanna says, looking down at her drink.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"I saw them once, too," she says. "It was pretty scary."
"So it wasn't because I was drunk?" I ask, making her to laugh.
"No Harry," she replies. "They are actually called the Night Marchers. They are a Hawaiian legend."
"Creepy," I say with a deep voice.✩ ✩ ✩
Keanna smiles to me and finishes drinking her hot chocolate. The sleeves of her Aeropostale sweatshirt cover her thin hands, making her look even cuter. Below her turquiose sweatshirt she wears pink pastel shorts and a matching shirt as pajamas. Her hair falls down her shoulders, messy and pretty tangled.
"Why are you staring at me Styles?" she asks, laughing.
"You look cute," I simply reply.
She rolls her eyes to me and shakes her head, "I look awful."
"No, you don't," I say, sitting closer to her. "Though you have hot chocolate left in your lips..."
"What?" she says, cleaning her lips rapidly.
"I was just bugging you Keanna," I say, leaving a kiss in her cheek.
"Ugh, very funny," she says, rolling her eyes again.I smile to her victorious and she kicks my legs. I kick her back, laughing, but she ends up placing her legs above mine, stopping me from moving. I look at her and we both laugh. It seems like we were kids.
"Are you feeling better, Harry?" Keanna asks after a few seconds of silence.
"I could feel better if we played a video game," I say, glancing at the Xbox on a tall wooden table with a TV and some glass decorations. She laughs and stands up, walking towards the big table to turn on the TV and the console.
"Call of Duty?" she asks, looking decided at one of the multiple video game boxes.
"Which one?" I ask.
"Black Ops 2," she replies with a wicked smile.
"Zombies, yes!" I shout happily. Keanna puts the disc on the console, laughing, then grabs two controllers and sits down near me.
"Do you want to be player 1 or player 2?" she asks.
"Player 1."
"Then you will be player 2."
"Ugh, I hate you," I say, taking the controller.
"You don't," she says, grinning.
"Duh, of course I don't," I reply, kissing her.✩ ✩ ✩
"Get on the bus!" Keanna shouts, looking fiercely at her player's screen on the TV.
"Where is it?" I ask, raising one eyebrow.
"You gotta be kidding me," she says, looking at my player's screen, "you are almost out of town. You are really far away!"
"Help me reach the bus!" I shout back.
"Then I would be killed because of you, again," she says, looking at me with her eyebrows raised.
"Please, buttercup?" I ask, leaving my controller in the couch so I can beg her with my hands.
"Ugh, alright sweetheart," she replies, groaning. We laugh together and then she easily makes me get to the bus so we can continue the game. But after she gives me the controller, she pauses the game.
"I was going to kill a zombie!" I complain.
"I am tired of playing, Harry," Keanna says. "I was going to win anyway."
"Very funny," I say, laughing fakely. She smiles and turns off the TV with a remote control. She places her head in my shoulder and we both stare at the bright fire of the chimney. I tangle my fingers with Keanna's shiny hair and start trying to make a braid like I always did with Gemma when I was younger.
I end it a minute later, disappointed and laugh slightly. As I don't hear Keanna saying anything or laughing with me, I look at her face. She has a small smile in her mouth and her eyes softly closed. She fell asleep.
I fall asleep beside her a couple of minutes later, too.
✩ ✩ ✩
"Wake up," somebody says, shaking my shoulders. "Wake up!"
"Huh?" I ask with my eyes still closed.
"What are you doing here with my sister?" the voice keeps saying. When I open my eyes I see Malia's face near to mine, angry.
"I think we fell asleep," I reply.
"I will be watching you Styles," she says, raising her eyebrows. "I don't trust you."
"I would never do what you are thinking," I say, scrunching my nose with a disgusted face.
"Yeah, you better don't," Malia says, standing up, "and you better get going."
"Why would he, Malia?" Keanna says, waking up. As Malia stays quiet, Keanna sits straight and frowns. "If I trust him, you must trust him, too."
"But..."
"I am already grown up sister," Keanna keeps saying, "you can trust me. And you can trust him, he's a gentleman."
Malia frowns, looking at me with her arms crossed above her chest. She thinks for a few seconds, breathing in and out calmly. "Alright."
"Thank you," Keanna says, smiling.Malia smiles back to her and then looks at me, still with a distrustful look in her face. She scans me for a few seconds and then gets upstairs.
"Now, do you want breakfast Harry?" Keanna asks, tying up her hair into a messy ponytail.
"I think I must go back to the hotel," I say, checking my phone to see that it's already 11:00 AM. "They must be worried."
"I agree," Keanna says, patting my knee. "What if we have dinner tonight at seven? You know, to... to say our goodbyes."I close my eyes harshly as I remember that today is Saturday, and that tomorrow our plane will leave to L.A.
"Of course, I'll pick you up," I whisper, standing up with my things gathered. We walk together to the door, she opens it and kisses my left cheek before I go out. "Thank you for listening to me, I was really scared about what happened."
"I will always help you when you need it, sweetheart," she says, making me too laugh once again.
"I love you, Keanna."
"I love you, too," she says, blushing with a bright smile on her face.
