Atticus' POV
My knuckles pierced the already bloodied skin of the man knelt in front of me. His broken nose dripped red onto the mahogany floor beneath . And that is exactly what this man is , beneath me. For months I have been trying to uncover where Othello is hiding out and as satisfying as capturing one of his men was, it was fruitless. He was sworn to an oath and no amount of torture or threats would break that. In many ways slightly admirable.
"Uccidilo" (Kill him). I sent the order to end this stubborn man's life, Elora holding up her gun to his head and firing the bullet straight through the skull. The shot rang through the room echoing into a pleasant ballad, which after all this time, I found somewhat comforting.
Turning round to my second in command Dante ,I observed his slight hesitation to look at the deceased laid in front of us, a trait I can't seem to rip out of him. Whipping out his phone, he rang for our clean-up crew to come and dispose of the body.
"What's your next orders?" Dante asked his voice still firm despite his somewhat nervous disposition.
"For tonight just clean this up and go back to the party, it's Vierra's night after all" I rolled my eyes thinking back to her insistent nagging on who she is allowed to invite. Finally, she listened to reason and only invited people and families associated with our business.
As if she heard me my little sister Vierra comes running into the room quickly diverting her eyes from the corpse. This was not something she should be seeing and could only endanger her.
"Vierra what the fuck are you doing in here?"
"I umm....was looking for Diego" She stuttered, I shifted sightly knowing she was lying, everyone who knows her can tell when she is withholding the truth.
"Me?, Love if you want me all you have to do is ask" Diego's words stirring disgust in me with his obviously lust after my sister, to which I planted an elbow to his ribcage as warning.
"What is the issue?" I ask through gritted teeth failing to keep my patience.
"So don't be mad, but I might have invited someone tonight who doesn't know what you guys do and she might now be gone all of a sudden"
"Gone?" Diego spat back at Vierra this time with no hint of his usual playfulness.
"Like left in a hurry" she rushed out, her anxiety rising, which wasn't good for her.
"It is still raining; she was practically having a breakdown at the thought of driving in the rain, and you are telling me this girl willingly has gone. What the hell has caused her to leave?" Diego was clearly angry at the situation, but I now know that he was aware this was going down, I can't solely blame Vierra , even if she has royally fucked up tonight. Whoever she had invited messinh up my evening and I was in no mood to argue.
Zoning out, my mind became a jungle, and I was simply trying to keep the animals calm, in the meantime Dante was pulling up his phone to watch over the security cameras revealing a woman I had never seen before witness us in action .
"What the hell were you thinking?" I grunted out keeping my voice steady, trying not to raise it too much.
Vierra looked down a sombre expression covering her face "I wanted a friend". I can't blame her, she didn't ask for this, I'm aware of that but she must understand I have responsibilities and I will always protect her. This antics of trying to make friends is getting in the way of me trying to keep her alive. Anyone who is after me will go after those I care about and the top of that list is my little sister.
Storming upstairs I ransack Vierra's room looking for anything that belongs to the random girl, one evening and this stranger is already being difficult. Elora holds up one of her bra's as if that is going to help, I sometimes question the intelligence of my team.
Attempting the get to the bottom of this whole debacle, I finally learn where she works and leave to go to my room to mull over my plans for tomorrow.
Pulling off my suit I leave it discarded on the bathroom floor and step into the shower. Letting the hot water run over my tense muscles, I push my hair back and soak my face in the burning steam to release all the stress of today. These fucking events will be the death of me.After washing my hair and body till I smell like cardamom and cedarwood I leave the shower, wrapping a towel round my waist. My black hair drips over my tattoos as I stand by my window in my bedroom observing the night sky . With assistant for the stars, patterns decorate the heavens which I trace with my heavy eyes, that are calling me to sleep.
Everything is finally quiet.
