Chapter 8

Abby's POV

The creature I see lives in a completely different world with only one moon instead of three and it looks like no other creature I have ever imagined. Somehow, I feel connected to this creature, like I have known it all my life.

It has dark blonde fur that is only on the top of its head and in thin arches above its eyes, but nowhere else on its body. It has beautiful blue eyes that sparkle in the bright light and it does not have a tail. The strangest thing about the creature is the dull and boring material adorning its body.

Somebody jabs me in my side and I jolt awake. I hadn't realized I had even fallen asleep. Zoe is looking at me with a mixture of curiosity and concern. She must be the culprit of the jab in my side that awoke me. In a way I am glad that she woke me up because the dreams scare me. But at the same time I wanted to see what would happen next.

"Are you unwell?" she asks me.

I shake my head, "No, I am fine, I think I just fell asleep."

"Ah, that is understandable. I heard you had quite the adventure at the palace last night," she replies, digging for juicy gossip.

I decide to reveal as little information as possible without hurting her feelings, "Yes, we had fun until a tiny interruption ended the night early. Anyway, what did you wake me for? I was having a nice nap."

"Everyone else left. The space ship just returned so they went to welcome Princess Cleo back from wherever she went. Do you know where she went?" Zoe asks, still digging.

"I do not know. She did not tell me," I fib.

She sighs, "Would you like to go watch the princesses return then?" she suggests.

"Sure," I reply.

"Sure? What does that mean, I don't believe I have ever heard it before," Zoe says as we begin to walk toward the space ship landing.

Oops, I have messed up again. If it isn't a Felinite word, then how did I learn it? I wonder. "It just means the same as yes. I must have picked it up from traveling to other planets," I invent.

"You like to travel? Where all have you been?" Zoe asks, probably hoping for a good story that I do not have.

"I have been to so many planets that the different experiences tend to run together after a while," I dismiss and try to think of a way to change the conversation. I notice the sky has changed since I last looked at it. Lunos, the large yellow moon, has already passed over the castle. "How long was I asleep?" I ask her.

"You were asleep for quite a while, all night plus a couple extra hours, perhaps seven in all. I have never seen a Felinite sleep so long, which is why I finally decided to wake you," Zoe explains.

Ugh, I just cannot seem to do anything correctly anymore; eat, talk, sleep, or remember.

"Are you positive that you are not unwell?" she asks.

"I am fine. Do not worry," I reply, carefully choosing my words so I do not draw even more attention to myself.

"You should tell someone if you are sick," Zoe insists. "I can take you to the Apothecary."

"I am fine, Zoe. Really," I try to reassure her.

She lets out a sigh of relief, "Very well."
