Author's Note
This is the first part of the memory. The rest of it will be in the next chapter, which will hopefully be up either later today or tomorrow. I thought I would add this incase anybody forgot any part of the memory. I hope you are enjoying the book so far.
I see a flash of extremely long, dark blonde fur that lies only on the creature's head. The fur is so long that it blows in the creature's face as the wind increases and blots out the rest of its features. Somehow , I feel connected to this creature, like I have known it all my life. The wind shifts and the rest of the creature's appearance is revealed.
It has dark blonde fur that is only on its head and in thin arches above its eyes, but nowhere else on its body. It has beautiful blue eyes that sparkle in the bright light and it does not have a tail. The strangest thing about the creature is the dull and boring material adorning its body
The world the creature lives in is completely different from Filinus. There is only one moon instead of three. A sea of white specks spreads out under the creature's feet. It is sand and an ocean of blue and green water stretches out in front of her for as far as she can see. A bright light in the sky shines, sparkling on everything it touches.
She steps on something sharp and bends over to pick it up. She studies the swirling, white seashell before pocketing it.
"Abby," a voice calls to the creature. The creature turns around and faces a man several feet away from her. "Did you finish repairing my computer?"
"Yes, of course," the creature replies and walks toward him. They walk on a grey street lined with buildings that rise high to the sky on one side and another street on the other side. The other street is black, yellow, and white. Huge things run across this street.
The two beings enter a building much shorter than the ones surrounding it. They sit down at a table and begin their meeting.
"Here is your computer," the female creature says as she slides a bag across to him. "It took a while but I managed to recover all the memory and get rid of the virus."
"Ah, thank you. And I am sorry that I could not meet you during your office hours at your and your father's work," the man apologizes. "I just tend to stay so busy." He hands her a wad of green paper.
"It is fine," the girl answers. Then they are approached by another woman, The newcomer has strange yellow eyes and black hair with white streaks.
"Hello, I will be your server tonight. May I take your drink order?" the woman asks.
"Sweet tea," Abby tells her, never looking away from the man across from her.
"I am not ordering," the man says.
"Ok. Are you ready to order?" the server asks Abby.
"Not quite," the girl answers and the server scampers away, leaving them alone in the mostly empty café. "Are you sure you do not want to order anything, Mr. Franklin?" Abby turns to the man.
"I am sure. I have to keep this meeting short," Mr. Franklin tells her.
"Oh, well, I suppose that is all then. If it tears up again just let me know," Abby tells him.
"I will and thank you once again for your help even though it was nothing but an inconvenience fore you," Mr. Franklin says to Abby.
"It wasn't that much trouble," Abby dismisses his worries.
"Good evening," Mr. Franklin says, concluding the meeting as he stands to leave.
Abby just nods in response. Looking out the window, she watches the huge machines race by on the street outside. Time seems to stretch forever as Abby sits alone. Eventually, the server walks toward her with a tray of food. When Abby realizes that the other woman is coming in her direction, she frowns in confusion.
"I have not ordered," Abby protests even though the server is not at her table yet.
"What? You didn't? Are you sure?" the server questions. Then when she reaches Abby she slips, falling forward, and everything on the tray falls all over Abby. The contents of the tray splash in Abby's hair, lands in her lap, and some even ends up on her face. Abby sucks in a breath of surprise and leaps up from her seat at the table.
"Oh, my goodness, I am so sorry. I am so clumsy. This is my first day working in a restraint and I have done so awful all day. I just know that I am going to be fired. I can't loose another job. This is the fourth one I have gotten this month. I am really sorry," the server babbles as she shoves towels in Abby's hands and rubs at her clothes, trying to clean up the mess.
"It's ok. Everyone makes mistakes," Abby reassures her as she moves away from the frantic woman. "Please stop that though. You are just making the stains worse."
"Sorry," the other woman replies in the middle of a pat, dropping the napkins to the floor.
"I have decided that I am not all that hungry, though," the Abby in the dream says as she scoops up her purse before running out of the café.
The sky is dark now due to the combination of night approaching and a storm well on its way.
Abby starts walking down the streets, hands in her pockets. Footsteps slam against the pavement somewhere behind her. Abby turns her head to see four people running in the same direction she is going, getting closer to her. When she faces forward again, she finds four more rounding the corner up ahead.
In all, there are three girls and five men. All eight of them are dressed the same, wearing black pants and dark hoodies.
Within seconds they are upon Abby and have any escape routes blocked. With nowhere else to go, Abby nervously begins to back down the alley behind her.
"Just give us the potions and no one will get hurt," the largest man says.
"We are scaring her," one of the girls complains. "If we just ask she might give them to us."
"Fine, Molly, we will try your way first," says the huge guy. "Jasper?"
Another man steps forward, his face concealed beneath the hood. "Will you give us the potions you stole?" A shiver of fear rakes down Abby's spine as, wide-eyed from fear, she backs away from the group of strangers.
"Any other brilliant ideas, Molly?" the big one asks.
"You could let me try," she suggests. The big man motions with his head for her to take a step forward. "Hey," the girl named Molly says as she pulls her hood off. Noises of protest erupt from the others as she reveals her wildly curly blonde hair striped with orange highlights. Her eyes are a strange color similar to the orange in her hair. The girl's unusual appearance further unsettles Abby.
"We do not mean to scare you," the stranger says reassuringly.
