Chapter 3~ Abby's POV
Priscila has spent the entire day trying to make me remember every little thing about the Felinite culture so I don't embarrass myself in front of Princess Cleo or make her suspicious of something I didn't do. I think I am finally caught up now. We went over history, songs, dances, and current events.
Apparently Felinites are an intelligent race who always tries to avoid a fight and is the only nation who has not seen a war in eight centuries. There are not that many songs, but the few that do exist I have mostly memorized. Priscila told me I am a natural born dancer and that I should enter contests or at least perform at big events, such as balls that the royals throw. And of course the most popular subject at hand is the thief who stole the potions, which were our most important trade item.
She has even taught me how to use my powers, too. I learned how to change to any form that I may wish to take and to do telepathy and telekinesis, which all aliens can do. Then she taught me the powers that only Felinites have; super speed, invisibility, and ingenuity.
Now I stand in front of Prissy as she adjusts a silver bow that she tied around my neck. Matching cuffs adorn each of my wrists and ankles. "Wow," Prissy says, "I can't believe my best friend is actually getting to attend a dinner with Princess Cleo. I would kill to take your place," she jokes.
"Please don't kill me," I play along, pretending to cower.
"No, I rather not be charged with murder," Prissy shudders. I hear footsteps at the door and turn to see Zoe enter my cave.
"Hello," she greets, "You should probably start heading out. There is only twenty minutes before the third moon is over the castle."
"I still don't quite understand how the moons could be used to tell time. How can you tell the difference between them?" I ask, because even though Prissy told me the moons were used to tell time I just cannot grasp how it works.
"She is just like a kitten," Zoe says, which means she thinks I am like a child. I am slightly insulted, but I know that she is right. "Each moon is extremely different and equal distance apart. They also each have names. Lunos is the first moon and he is the largest and has a bright yellow glow. Luna is the second; she is the medium pink moon. Unna is the last moon and she is supposedly the daughter. She is the small blue one.
"We judge how much time has passed by where each moon is in the sky in correlation to the castle. There are six hours between each moon and eighteen hours in a day. Nobody sleeps for more than perhaps four hours each day so you have the rest of the day for work or school and parties or meetings," Zoe explains.
"Alright you are all ready," Prissy interrupts, "Shall we walk you to the gates?" she asks.
"Yes, please that would be nice," I answer, but the main reason I accept is because I do not know how to get there.
"Alright then," Priscila says as she leads me out of the door and onto the path. We walk to the castle in pleasant silence with Prissy on one side of me and Zoe on the other. When we reach the castle, they stop at the front gate and we say our goodbyes as they tell me to have fun before they depart.
I reluctantly raise my fist to knock, but I'm so nervous. Before I have even worked up the courage to knock, the door is opened to reveal Princess Cleo smiling warmly on the other side wearing her crown and a gold bow and cuffs similar to my silver ones.
"Abby" she says, "I am so glad you could make it."
"I wouldn't have wanted to miss a royal dinner. Thank you so much for inviting me, Princess Cleo" I reply humbly.
