Chapter 5
Abby's POV
I only see a flash of extremely long, dark blonde fur that lies only on the creature's head. The fur is so long that it blows in the creature's face as the wind increases and blots out the rest of its features.
I awake with a start, slightly disoriented and extremely confused by the vision I just had. Or maybe it was only a dream, but it felt too real to just be a dream. It has to be real.
"She's awake," I hear a voice announce. I open my eyes to find Queen Nala's face looming over me and I realize where I am.
"Why am I still at the castle?" I don't realize that I asked the question out loud until someone answers what I thought had been my unspoken question.
"You were attacked by one of the men who had tried to harm me yesterday," Princess Cleo answers.
"Yesterday?" I ask, distinctly remembering the incident that happened only a few hours ago.
"Yes, you were unconscious for about six hours," another voice answers. I search the room until I find a nurse leaning against the entrance frame. He gives me a polite smile. "Other than that you were unharmed," he adds.
"Oh, thank you," I reply, not sure that that was my only injury. Surely I have a concussion or something. What else could possibly be the cause of my vision?
"How do you feel, dear?" Queen Nala asks.
"I am fine," I answer.
"Ok, you are welcome to stay here for a little while longer, until you feel better, or I can send an escort to take you home," the queen tells me.
"Oh, I will be fine on my own," I say not wanting to hinder the royals or overstay my welcome. I try to stand, but I am hit with a wave of dizziness that knocks me back down.
"Are you sure you are feeling well?" the nurse asks.
"Yes, thank you, I am fine," I reply and try to stand again. This time I manage to get up with Princess Cleo's help. After a few moments the lightheadedness passes and I am able to walk fine on my own.
"I have a wonderful idea," Princess Cleo gushes, "Dexter and I was going to go out today anyway, so you can just come with us." It wasn't a suggestion, but I have learned that the royals tend to state demands and presumptions instead of requests and questions.
"Where are you going?" I ask as she links her arm through mine and leads me out of the room.
She giggles and looks away, "I'm going to visit Prince Cornelius, my fiancé," she tells me.
"There is a prince on Filinus?" I ask confused. If there was a prince on Filinus, would they not be related?
She laughs this time, "No, silly. He doesn't live here. He is next in line to rule Satera." We fall quiet for a moment. I am silent because I don't understand what she is talking about. She seems embarrassed by something she told me but I cannot figure out what could be bothering her.
The next thing I know, she is pulling me down the hall on the first floor, leading me away from the gate. We are sprinting, at that unbelievable speed Felinites can run, at a wall. A solid wall looms only feet away from us, but we are not slowing.
"What are we doing?" I shriek frightened. She does not answer. The wall is getting closer. Or are we getting closer to the wall? Well, this is the end. I just know it. I have escaped two knife attacks by psychos out to kill Princess Cleo and now my life will end at the hands of a wall.
