Chapter 23
Abby's POV

"We don't mean to scare you," the girl named Molly says.

"W-what do you want from me?" Abby stutters nervously as she tries to back away from the frightening group of eight.

"We just want what you stole from us," the man Abby heard was called Jasper booms.

"I- I didn't steal anything," Abby persists.

The lage man who is obviously the leader shrugs and takes a step toward her. "Well, Molly, we tried it your way."

"And your way sucked," one of the other men chimes in.

The leader rolls his eyes. "Let's get this over with. Jasper, hold her while I search her for the potions."

Jasper steps forward and grabs both of Abby's arms to keep her still. Then the leader gently begins searching Abby's pockets, carful to keep from scaring her further. He checks the right jacket pocket and finds nothing. Then his hands slips into the left jacket pocket, again, empty. He moves to her back pockets and...

Several round objects fall to the ground and rolls on the alley ground toward the leader. He bends to pick them up but then...

Sirens ring out far too close for the group of eight to feel comfortable standing still. The leader scoops up as many of the vials, holding a purple glittering liquid, as he can. He tosses one to three of the others and keeps the last one for himself. "Let's get out of here. It is probably the cops. Stick together in four groups of two so you can split the potion inside each vial and get back to Filinus. Bonnie, stay with me and help me take care of her," he demands, gesturing to me as he says the last words.

"Sure, Shadow," Bonnie replies. The other six figures run as fast as they can, out of sight in moments. Shadow and Bonnie are left in the alley, staring at  Abby.

"What do we do now?" Bonnie asks once they are sure they are alone.

"We wait. There is still one more of us out there. We cannot leave her," Shadow replies.

"How long?" Bonnie inquires.

"Never fear, the smart one of the three of us is here," a female voice says as a figure slips down from the roof. Abby recognizes her as the black-haired waitress with white highlights from the diner earlier that evening.

"Priscilla," Shadow greets, grabbing her hand and pulling her toward him. "Are you ready to go home?"

"Wait," Bonnie interrupts before Priscilla can answer. "What about her?" he gestures to Abby. "We can not leave her here. We may have gotten the other Chasers away from Earth and off our trail for now, but soon they will come back and demand for answers from her and try to find the rest of the potions. And she does not have any answers."

"So? That is not our problem," Shadow says as he uncorks the vial.

His answer seems to make Bonnie angry because Bonnie pulls out his knife and begins to walk toward Shadow. "We can not leave her, you b..."

"Stop it. Both of you," Priscilla interrupts, stepping between them. While the attention of the three is completely captured, Abby decides to attempt to slip away. She begins to slowly creep around them, hoping to escape while they are distracted.

"Look, Terry told us we still need two things to happen to make this work, remember? We have to find a diversion to keep the Felinites' attention off of the vanished potions. And we have to test the other potion." Both of the men nod.
