01: Prologue ♪

The first sound I hear is the gentle waves, rhythms that come and go along the shoreline, the music of mother nature...

And the second one...I am not so sure...

Taehyun's POV

Warm light rays are shining on me, dispersing above my head, a hint to be closer to another world. Motivated by excitement, I flap my tail harder to speed up, my heart is swinging together with the colorful fishes mucking around me.

I can't wait to see how the human world looks like!

Last year on my 18th birthday, I was all ready to go to the water surface, unfortunately there's a thing called 'pandemic' among humans so mermaids were forbidden to make any contact with their world.

I have been waiting for my chance day by day, and now, it's the moment-

Splash-

Finally, my head popped up from the ripples-

The radical sunshine almost blind me right the way-

I blink my eyes, slowly adapt to the direct sunlight, my vision soon becomes crystal clear.

Peering through my bangs, I see the infinite blue extending to all directions, such a gorgeous scenary!

I take a long deep breathe, the fresh briny air comes into my nasals for the very first time.

Next I divert the senses to my ears-

The first sound I hear is the rhythm of the waves.

And the second one-

Sounds like pellucid trebles from some strings, each note is calm, peaceful, like clear droplets falling.

A silver lining glided across the blue sky, the seagulls spreading their long wings freely and join the melody.

I recognize the distinctive chords coming from a white structure which should be a 'cruise', according to my limited knowledge about humans. I swim hastily to the vicinity of it.

A particular human on the deck has caught my attention-

He is embracing a wooden instrument, the pleasant notes vibrate to the air when his long slender fingers move across the bronze strings that sparking under sunshine, and the other masculine hand tickling up and down adeptly with a thin small plastic.

Curious about his profile, my gaze trails up to see his bangs long enough to cover his upper face.

When he slightly sways his head together with the up tempo, sometimes those dark brown eyes ignited with passion reveal to me.

Other humans surround him and dance to his music, the boy put on a sweet smile in satisfaction that goes viral around the scene.

I admit this guy does radiate some charisma-

'Prince Taehyun, you are too close to the ship! Please be cautious of your action. I promised your parents to take care of you, my dear majesty.' The annoying reminders break me out of trance.

Feeling a slight tingle as the sassy crab grabbing onto my hair, this tiny little palm sized creature is my protective servant Sebastian.

'Just let me listen to some more, this is beautiful.' I brush him off for he's disturbing my enjoyment, and I know he doesn't give up easily, he just continues ranting into my ear, convincing me to return to the kingdom before a prophesied storm comes.
