06: Run Away ♪

A/N: This chap is consecutive to the last chap, still the same night//

One of them pressed the record button of the camera, the four were back to their position and set up their musical instruments. After they each took a deep breath, their leader Soobin turned his head towards the drummer to make a cue.

The later bashed the crash symbol loud while the other hand brushing the chimes with the drumstick, the piano notes joined in as Soobin's both hands crawling up and down tirelessly-

The bass and the electronic guitar reunited into the bouncy shuffles presiding over the rhythm, keys twinkling from the synthesizer emanated a mysterious vibe between the main melody, the unity of instruments and vocals ramming the song to the verge of intensity -

Please be my eternity

Please call my name

Run away run away run away with me...

They took turn to sing the lines, they were literally shouting from their lungs to stand out from the booming instruments.

Through the screen, their play was rough but amusing, especially when Beomgyu was stroking the guitar, he looked so tough and energetic, burning flames were dazzling in his eyes, quite different from the merman's recognition as every time they met, Beomgyu cries and exposes his weak side in front of him.

Taehyun is still watching the practice video while Beomgyu fiddling his fingers nervously waiting for a reaction.

'This song is called Run Away? That's so cool!' Taehyun complies and pulls the boy's sleeves, begging him to tell him more about his band.

'We formed our band TXT since high school, performing in school, bars and events, gaining attention on Internet and even have our own fandom MOA. At the beginning, we were just teens playing music as a hobby, to run away from our problems, until everyone entered college and started thinking about the future. All of us love music more than anything. Our eldest, Yeonjun will be graduating next year, if we couldn't get an official contract, he'll end up working in office. So we practiced hard to join different contests and auditions, and you guess what? We made it! We are now under BTS's company JinHit Music and probably will have our debut in the industry!'

Beomgyu non-stop babbling about the band and other artists who inspired their music, showing Taehyun some media from his phone.

Such as Beatles and Day6, all these are unfamiliar faces to Taehyun. Sometimes he doesn't really understand what Beomgyu is talking about but he enjoys his accompany. Seeing the boy talking about his favourite things makes him feel happy as well.

Beomgyu is his only friend, they knew each other no more than a few days and he can already tell he is fond of this lovely human.

Soon the batteries of his xPhone ran out so as Beomgyu's energy, before the sun creeps out from the horizon, the boy has fallen asleep soundly, leaning his head on Taehyun's shoulder.

For Taehyun, the older is like a light that cracks this dawn.

Still in daze, Taehyun winces at the jab on his neck, it's Sebastian reminding him the day has begun.

'Shh- Just a little while.' He hushes the crab.

Sebastian lets out a sigh. He feels complicated, he should prevent his master from the dangerous human world but he has never seen Taehyun smiles that much when he's underwater.

The sun is completely hanging up high in the sky, Taehyun gently pats the boy's head to wake him up.

'...I fell asleep? Where did I stop just now? Did I tell you about Green Day already?' Beomgyu stretches his arms and sits straight.

Taehyun taps his shoulder and motions him to look at the sun.

He has to go-

Before he leaves unwillingly, they make another promise again.

For Beomgyu, this is definitely the most special Valentine's day he has ever experienced. The merman has turned this miserable night into a memorable one.

Since that night the two grow attached to each other, no matter how tired after college classes and band practice, Beomgyu comes to him every night with no exception.

Meeting his secret little friend, he tends to forget about the worries in his life.

On the other hand, Taehyun loves hearing his stories and the new songs recommended by him. Beomgyu even treated him his favourite human snacks and gummy bears.

Just simple things create a euphoria, they are very different, but they share genuine happiness.

To Beomgyu's surprise, Taehyun is actually one year younger than him, he shouldn't have assumed the mermaids might have lived for 100 or 200 years.

However, the merman doesn't disclose much about himself and Beomgyu is willing to wait for him to open his heart.

Here comes another night they meet at the coastal cave again.

'You can blow a pipe too?' Taehyun asks while Beomgyu is playing Titanic with a recorder.

'Everyone says I'm a genius in instruments.' Beomgyu continues with a proud expression, 'How about you? Can you play any?'

Taehyun collects a conch shell from nearby, 'Don't laugh at me.' He starts blowing the shell, trying so hard till his chubby cheeks and the tips of his ears are all red, but to worse luck he still can't make a pleasant sound.

'Let me try. I have never blown a shell though.' Said by Beomgyu as he grabs the shell from him. He examines a bit the structure and immediately takes a few attempts, it doesn't take him long to make a melody out from it.

Taehyun's mouth opens ajar with his eyes widen, flashing with admiration.

Cute-

The merman is always too cute to handle, Beomgyu reaches out a hand as he wants to ruffle his sheeny blond locks of hair that seems so soft.

Before he can complete the action, his phone rings.
