A/N: The song above is the one Venti sings in this chapter, I quite enjoy it and hope you will too ^^
Xiao woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. He was panting, and his head hurt. He tried his best not to awaken Venti, to not much success. The other male woke up and immediately embraced a shaking Xiao.
He was sobbing into Venti's chest, apologizing just to be hushed. Venti played with Xiao's hair, beginning to calmly sing to calm Xiao down.
'When the world gets too heavy, put it on my back. I'll be your levy. You are, taking me apart like bad glue on a get well card. It was always, you, falling for me. Now there's always time, calling for me. I'm the light, blinking at the end of the road. Blink back to let me know'
Xiao rested against him, his breathing slowing as he stopped shaking. Venti's voice was beautiful, and so very calming. He closed his eyes and listened as the boy continued to sooth him.
'I'm a fly that's trapped, in a web, but I'm thinking that, my spiders dead. Lonely, lonely little life. I could kid myself into thinking that I'm fine. It was always you, falling for me, now there's always time, calling for me. I'm the light, blinking at the end of the road, blink back to let me know; that I'm skin and bonr, just a king and a rusty throne. Oh the castle's under siege, but the sun outside says leave me alone.'
Xiao continued to listen, his fears fading from existence. Venti's voice was the most beautiful thing in the world to him. The smallest smile spread across his cheeks as he leaned in more.
'It was always you, falling for me, now there's always time, calling for me. I'm the light blinking at the end of the road, blink back to let me know. Blink back to let me know'
Venti finished and looked down at Xiao. "Did that help?," He asked nervously.
"Yes...erm, thanks," He yawned, giving Venti a soft kiss as best he could.
Venti smiled and snuggled back into bed with Xiao. They fell back asleep and stayed asleep until morning.
Xiao was the first to wake up, thankfully not to nightmare this time. He looked at the still asleep Venti and his heart picked up it's pace. He was slowly getting used to his heart racing around the male. Maybe, it's like they really did belong together.
'We might not be soulmates, but it's a nice thought nonetheless' Those words rang endlessly through Xiao's mind.
He agreed, it was indeed a nice thought. But was there really a possibility that they were soulmates? Is that why he feels a longing for Venti that he'd never felt for anything or anyone. He took a deep breath and tucked a piece of Venti's hair out his face. He really did want to be his soulmate.
Dvalin made his way into the bedroom through his little paw print shaped cat door. He opened his mouth to mew for food, but Xiao was faster. He picked up the cat, and quietly walked out of the bedroom to let Venti sleep in.
His mind wondered to last night, Venti's soft singing, as if he knew that would calm Xiao did. It was nice being cared for and not a sensation he was exactly used to.
He carefully fed Dvalin, still lost in his thoughts. He had to do something to thank Venti right? But what could he do? Xiao's eyes glanced over the kitchen. That was it! He'd make Venti breakfast. That's what romantic partners do, right?
He immediately got to work, completely clueless on what Venti liked. He made simple hashbrowns, with French toast, and his signature coffee order. Xiao knew it by heart. He had memorized it in the first month Venti came in, along with how to make it. He'd stay after shift just to learn to make it. Which was very unusual for him, but to him he was just getting it out of the way. Never did he think it'd actually come in handy.
Xiao had just finished when a very tired Venti walked into the kitchen, fully dressed in a large hoodie that came down to his knees and bunny slippers. It was like an arrow through Xiao's heart it was too cute.
"Mnn whatcha got there babe," Venti sleepily walked over to see, grabbing Xiao's arm and snuggling it.
"I made breakfast, and the coffee you like from the cafe, go sit, I'll bring it to you," He shooed Venti off, as he attempted to make a coffee heart design.
Very very carefully he brought it to Venti, whom accepted it and gave Xiao a kiss. Xiao blushed a deep red with a simple nod of thanks for the kiss. Venti giggled. "You're so adorable," Venti smiled.
"Thank you last night," Xiao said out of nowhere.
"Of course, I hope I helped at least a little. It hurt so much to see you in pain like that," Venti remarked, beginning to eat.
"Yes, I have really bad nightmares...I apologize," Xiao apologized, sitting across from Venti and eating his own breakfast.
"Don't worry about it, if you need to sleep over more often, or if you want me to go to your house I can. I wouldn't mind being there to help you more," Venti smiled.
Xiao blushed at the gester. "Thank you, I'll keep it in mind"
Breakfast passed as the topic changed. Afterward, Xiao did the dishes as Venti got ready for the day. They met up in the living room and then left the house, getting in Venti's car. Venti drove Xiao to work, kissing him goodbye as Xiao waved.
Venti smiled, he'd be back at the cafe for his usual afternoon coffee but it still made him a bit sad to see Xiao leave.
"I'm even more in love than I thought," They both muttered once far away from one another, a smile on both of their faces.
