Georgia injected the pain killer into Florida. They had been travelling to Dixie's grave for hours now, and they were all tired. The states made the mistake of trying to take a shortcut threw a cave. But they're map failed to mention how unstable the cave was. This caused an exhausted Florida to take a step onto an unstable piece of land. North had managed to catch him in time but not before they're oldest brother had cut open his back. Luckily Florida had the unique power of quick healing. He'd heal his wounds much faster than an average human or even state, and sometimes it would let him survive what should have been fatal injuries like this. It didn't mean it didn't hurt though.
Florida's screams echoed threw the cave as Georgia and North were trying to help him. After a few minutes the painkillers that Georgia injected into him seamed to take effect and he ceased his wails. "How you feeling?" North asked. "Like my back just got torn open" He replied, a small grin forming on his lips. "We should rest for a bit here anyway" Georgia said taking his pack off. "Finally" North said, also taking his own pack off. Georgia had brought some freeze dried peaches for the trip, so he passed a pack of them to each of his brothers. "So how far are we Georgia?", North asked while he tore the wrapper from his packaging.
"To far" Georgia said. "You guys did volunteer" the peach state continued. "That reminds me, back at the mansion, you said you had a way to bring back uncle Dixie, but you never told us how you found out or what it is." They're was minute of silence between the three as Georgia considered how to word what he was going to say. "I had a, dream, I guess. It didn't really feel like a dream, and I couldn't member what I was dreaming about, but ever since the first night they happened I felt like I should go into Dad's relic room." This surprised both of his brothers. The relic room was always off limits to states. They're dad always told them that. He said that it was too dangerous for them. "What was in there?" North asked, suddenly very curious.
"They're were old things, guns, clothes, money, and lots of books. All of them seemed fairly old. But in the corner there was a bookshelf. I got the same feeling that told me to go down there, except this time, it told me to grab the book and open it to page 216. I did that, and I read the page, and... well, it told me I could bring a country back from the dead."
"Well, how do we do it?" Florida asked, now completely uninterested in his dried peaches. His brother let out a sigh. "Its dangerous, according to the book. If you attempt it, there's a high chance something will go wrong. And if it goes wrong, well, anything could happen. Some countries that tried that lost they're sanity, others just turned to dust. It said that it only ever worked once."
"Who'd it bring back?" Florida asked. His brother just shrugged. "It didn't say, and believe me I checked." Florida looked disappointed as Georgia gave an 'I'm sorry' look to him. The group ate in silence for a bit after, until North managed to get them talking again. The grouped laughed and talked in the cave for an hour until they continued they're hike.
11:03
The old wooden staircase let out a creak as America descended down it towards the relic room. He had put off checking there for any clues until last, he told himself it was because he knew there was no need, he knew that his states would never break his rules. But deep down he knew that the real reason was he was afraid what he would find down there. He arrived at the bottom of the stairs, and stood before the large, red wooden door while he gathered up his courage.
Then he placed his hand on the cold steel of the door handle, sighed, and entered the room. He didn't immediately see anything out of place as he walk among his relics, everything seemed to be in its place. Then he walked toward his tallest bookshelf, and immediately noticed something was wrong. He gulped as he checked threw the titles on the shelf, palms sweating. Then he realized which was missing. He tried looking for it again hoping he could find it, but to no use, it was missing. The book in question was about the life and evolution of a country. He knew that there was only one part of the book which would cause one of his states to runaway. It talked about resurrection, which was already dangerous. And even more dangerously, if they were trying to revive someone, there was only person it could be. America let out a worried moan, things had just gone from bad to worse.
14:00
The next few hours had been difficult ones. On one hand he finally knew why Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida left, but on the other hand, he didn't know where. The only one who Dixie told where he would be buried if he died was Georgia, and the peach state never shared it with him. So he wasn't any closer to a location. Most of the states were working around the clock to find something to help, many of them blindly walking in any direction looking for a clue. But he had called them back an hour ago, and they were making their way back to their home. They were all confused by it and some were even angry and tried to argue with him but he managed to quiet them down by telling them he'd explain it when they were all together.
The country's from the UN meeting which volunteered to help, which ended up being most of them, had been split into two groups. One group would be searching right now, and the other he'd invited over to his house to do a more coordinated search. They were supposed to arrive at 14:15. But as Ame walked down the halls, he heard what sounded like crying. Stopping to investigate, he discovered it was coming from the Southeast's room. He slowly open the door to see South Carolina, eyes red from crying, on her bed, sobbing. Ame entered but she just continued as before. He wrapped his arms around her in a hug, "its ok" he said to his shivering daughter.
After a few moments she managed to calm down until she was no longer crying. "Why" she managed to say. "Why would North, and Georgia and Florida leave." Ame didn't know what to say, he had kept the the reason for the states departure a secret, but now, faced with the crying face of South, he was tempted to reveal it. But he knew he couldn't tell her, so he simply shrugged. South just fell into his arms. He knew that the states departure would hit the rest of the Southeast the hardest, especially South Carolina. North Carolina wasn't just the opposite of her, he was her twin. Even though she and Florida argued all the time they had still been threw to much together to not be friends. And Georgia was the state who always checked on her, despite her introverted nature. He was always there to get between her and Florida and help them settle the dispute, or the dispute of any states who had a problem.
They stayed there in silence for a few minutes until he heard the doorbell ring. They separated from the hug, "Come on, lets get you to the other states" Ame said as they stood from South's bed. The two went down the stairs leading to the 1st floor where the door was. South left him at a fork in the hallways to go to where the rest of the states were gathered. Ame sighed as he opened the door and was greeted by Japan's face. She immediately wrapped him into a hug. The sudden act was able to calm Ame's nerves for a moment, until she let go and gave him a sympathetic look, "whatever you need, we're here to help" Ame nodded before leading the countries to a large room with a giant table where his states were gathered.
The countries sat in groups by the table in mostly the same way they would at a UN meeting. They maintained their groups and circles. America began to speak to the assembled room, "I guess it's time for me to explain why I postponed the search. Well there's a problem with both type of people here. The states are just inexperienced, they can't really find them on their own. And the countries just don't know enough about Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina. So, I've decided that to help cover everyone's weaknesses, I'm pairing each country with a state."
The room was silent for a moment. Then it erupted into whispers from both states and countries. "They're children" New Zealand said confused. "But they'll do anything to find their brothers." Ame replied, as if he'd planned for it. After a few minutes every state and country's objections had been silenced, Ame began to introduce every country to their new partner.

Yay another chapter done
I think I'm gonna get out a main chapter every Thursday at around 1:30 EST but I'm not really sure when I'll get a side story done
Also since this might be too focused on the Southeast, and the whole point of this was to include lesser known states in the state humans, I think I'll use a random state picker for a few people and look into that state
If you read this whole chapter thanksp
