The group found themselves once again at the junk yard. This time on purpose. They rode up to a worn down bus and got off the bikes. Mike helped El off of his bike while Lucas helped Nikki.
Nikki sat down next to El, who patted her shoulder telling her she did well.
"Holy...holy shit!" Dustin exclaimed after he caught his breath. "Did... you see what they did to those vans?"
"No, Dustin, we missed it." Mike replied sarcastically.
"She flipped it and she managed to run it off the road! I mean that was..."
"Awesome." Lucas finished his thought, looking at the girls with a sorry look. "It was awesome."
He walked over to the girls, still trying to caught his breath, and sat in front of them.
"Everything I said about you two being traitors and stuff," Lucas said sadly. "I was wrong."
He looked at the girls. El was giving him a shock but confused look while Nikki wipe the blood from her nose.
"I'm sorry." Lucas concluded sincerely. He put his hand on Nikki's shoulder seeing that it was hard to stay awake.
"Friends.." El responded for the both of them. "Friends don't lie. We're sorry too."
Lucas smiled at both of them getting Nikki to smile shyly back.
"Me too." Mike broke in the conversation and held his hand out of Lucas to shake.
This time he did.

"This is Randolph Road, right here." Lucas explained to the group of three that gathered around him. He was explaining his findings to El, Mike and Dustin while Nikki got some sleep not too far away. He dragged a stick in the dirt to show what was happening. "The fence starts here and goes all the way around. And this is the lab right here." He set a can in the middle. "The gates gotta be in there somewhere. It's gotta be."
"Well, who owns Hawkins Lab?" Dustin asked.
"The sign says Department of Energy." Lucas recalled.
"Department of Energy? What do you think that means?"
"It means government. Military." Mike sighed.
"Then why does it say Energy?"
"Just trust me, all right?" Mike said starting to get annoyed. "It's military. My dad's told me before."
"Mike's right." Lucas confirmed. "There's soldiers out front."
"Do they make, like, lightbulbs or something?" Dustin asked.
"No, weapons..." Mike rolled his eyes. "To fight the Russians and commies and stuff."
Lucas's eyes widened at Mike's words. "Weapons." He looked at El who sat in front of him and Nikki who slept behind her.
"Oh, Jesus, this is bad." Dustin said realizing how bad things were for this fight.
"Really bad. The place is like a fortress."
"Well, what do we do?"
"I don't know but we can't go home." Mike shook his head. "We're fugitives now."
The sound of a vehicle made the boys look towards the sound and see a helicopter flying over head.
"Guys?" Dustin said looking up at it. "Do you see that too?"
The group split up. El ran into the bus for her own safety while Mike and Dustin were pushing their bikes under the bus and Lucas was waking up Nikki.
"Nikki!" He shook her awake. "Come on. We need to go."
He helped her stand up and both rushed into the bus with Mike and Dustin right behind them.
"Get down!" Lucas yelled at the other's as he grabbed Nikki's arm and brought her to the side of the bus with him.
A few seconds passed by as the helicopter went over head. The only thing heard from in the bus was all of their panting.
"Mental." Dustin said out of breath.

Time passed by. How much time? A lot. How did they spend it? Coming up with horrible ideas of what to do.
Every idea, every plan, every time they thought of what to do the plan just seemed to get worse and worse.
After a while, they all just sat back in silence not knowing what to do. Until, a helpful call came along the way.
Mike, are you there? Mike? A girl's voice came from Mike's backpack.
"You guys hear that?" Dustin asked wanting to know if he was going crazy.
Mike, it's me, Nancy.
Mike ran over to his backpack and grabbed his walkie talkie. Everyone sat around him listening to his sister try to get through to him.
"Is that your sister?" Lucas asked with suspicion.
This is an emergency, Mike. Do you copy?
"Okay, this is really weird." Dustin said with wide eyes.
Lucas tried to grab the radio out of Mike's hand but Mike quickly pulled away.
"Don't answer." He said quickly.
"She said it was an emergency." Lucas stated.
"What if it's a trick?"
"It's your sister!"
Nikki and El looked at each other and shrugged.
"What if the bad people kidnapped her?" He argued. "What if they're forcing her to say this?"
Nancy's desperate pleas continued.
"It's like Lando Calrissian." Dustin thought out loud. "Don't answer."
Listen, kid, this is the chief. If you're there, pick up. We know you're in trouble and we know about the girl.
The group looked at each other wide eyed.
"Why is she with the chief?" Lucas asked.
"How the hell does he know about.." Dustin trailed off looking at the girls.
We can protect you, we can help you, but you gotta pick up. Are you there? Do you copy? Over.
The boys turned to Nikki for any input. She was confused on why they were looking at her but just nodded her head. She didn't have a good feeling, but then again she hasn't had a good feeling all day.
Mike pressed the button on the walkie talkie. "Yeah, I copy. It's Mike. I'm here." He looked around at everyone.
"We're here."
