Nine was alone in her room, resting after getting her shot. She laid numbly on her bed with all of her energy used up from screaming and trying to get out of the chair. She didn't want to move due to not wanting the pain to come back, but she didn't have to move in order for a pit to form in her stomach. It was enough for her to feel nauseous.

She brought her legs up to her chest slowly and wrapped her arms around them, trying to comfort herself. She laid there for a few minutes trying to take deep breaths to get the nausea to go away.

After a while it finally went away, but within a second a loud alarm went off with red light flashing. Weakly, she got up from her bed and slowly walked to her locked door.

Pressing her ear on the door, she heard nothing but pure chaos and screams of horror. It didn't take long to hear feet running past her room.

"Go! Go!" A man's voice screamed through the hallway. "Run for your lives!"

It was enough to send Nine into a panic. She started banging on the door wanting to get out and check on Eleven. She tried to scream for help but only could mutter a little squeak since her voice was worn out since the shot.

With her voice helping with nothing, she banged on the doors louder as the chaos only got worse. Soon, gunshots were heard, scaring Nine enough to let some tears slip for her eyes.

Finally, Nine had enough when her hands were all red and tingly from hitting the door. She slid down losing hope that no one was going to help her.

She looked down at her wrists and ankles which had bandages on them from when the restraints cut them up just a few hours before. It made her cry more knowing that this was what her life was all about. Getting hurt or tested on, that's all she was used for.

She was quickly pulled away from those thoughts as the door behind her creaked open. She stood up and waited to see who was on the other side.

It was someone she least expected to show up.

"Eleven?" She asked in a hoarse whisper.

Nikki shot up quickly and breathing heavily. She looked around and remembered that she was in the woods. Far away from the lab.

She looked to her left and saw El with her usual worried eyes. Nikki nodded to show she was okay and El helped her to her feet.

Ever since the Lucas incident, both of the girls said nothing to each other. Nothing really had to be said. It was obvious that Nikki was upset with El but they knew they needed to stick together no matter what.

Nikki followed El to a lake where both girls sat down and looked at their reflection. Nikki still had her brown wig on but it was messed up and no longer smooth and silky. She watched El put her wig back on before taking it off. She watched as El's expression went sad to angry.

El screamed so loud it made birds fly away and Nikki cover her ears. Once El was done letting out her anger, Nikki took her in her arms and tried to calm her down.

Nikki took off her own wig and through it aside. She returned to her reflection to see the same broken girl, only this time with shorter hair. El may have thought they were normal, but Nikki knew that wasn't true.

It was all just pretend.

Lucas opened his door to see the people he least wanted to see right at that moment. Well, maybe not the least but they were certainly towards the bottom the list.

Mike and Dustin stood there awkwardly. Mike looked like he didn't want to be there and Dustin just looked annoyed.

"What do you want?" Lucas asked looking between the two.

Mike and Dustin stood in silence until Dustin hit Mike, trying to get him to start talking.

Mike sighed then turned to Lucas. "I drew first blood, so..."

Mike held out his hand waiting for Lucas to shake it, but ended up only getting an invite inside.

The two boys stood in Lucas's living room watching him pace in thought before finally starting to talk.

"Okay, I'll shake."

Mike held out his hand ready to get it done with but was quickly stopped by Lucas.

"On one condition." He crossed his arms. "We forget the weirdos and go straight to the gate."

"Then the deal's off." Mike spat back.

"Fine!" Lucas threw up his hands.

"Fine!"

"No, no, not fine!" Dustin cut in. "Guys, seriously? Do you even remember what happened on the Bloodstone Pass?"

Mike and Lucas looked at each other, equally as lost.

Dustin looked at them with shock and sighed. "We couldn't agree on what path to take, so we split up the party and those trolls took us out one by one. And it all went to shit. And we were all disabled! So we stick together, no matter what!"

"Yeah, I agree." Lucas nodded. "But this is the party right here in this room."

"El and Nikki are one of us now." Mike stated.

"Um, no, they're not. Not even close!" Lisa's raised his voice. "Never will be. They are liars, traitors-"

"They were just trying to keep us safe!" Mike interrupted. "El didn't mean to hurt you. It was an accident!"

"An accident?" Lucas repeated with a disbelieving expression.

"All right, accident or not..." Dustin tried to break up the fight again. "Admit it, it was a little awesome."

"Awesome?" Lucas looked offended.

"Yeah, she threw you in the air with her with her mind!"

"I could have been killed!"

"Which is exactly why we need her. Both of them. They're weapons!" Mike yelled at Lucas. "Do you seriously wanna fight the Demogorgon with your wrist rocket? That's like R2-D2 going to fight Darth Vader. We're no use to Will if we're dead."

"If you two wanna waste your time looking for the traitors, go ahead." Lucas said obviously hurt by his friends. "Cause I'm not spending my time on them anymore. No way! I'm going to the gate. I'm gonna find Will."

He pushed passed the boys leaving them alone. It was time to find his friend.
