A Lovely Mess

Day 5

George pulled himself up the wall and looked towards where they were all previously stood seeing tommy stood alone, he shook his head and walked over.

"Wheres karl and sap?" George asked readjusting the bag on his shoulder, his eyes diverted to dream who had just pulled himself up the wall, before looking back to tommy.
"In there-" Tommy pointed to a store, the door cracked open "-they're looting i think"

"hm, okay" George walked over, "GET YOUR ARSES OUT HERE" he yelled into the store.

"did i just hear sapnap looting, on what planet?" dream chuckled
"looting? he's probably looting karls pan-" George stopped mid sentence as karl and sapnap exited the shop

"you say ass weird gogy" Sapnap chuckled
"ass, arse what's the difference" george shrugged.

They had began walking further inland venturing into the mainland city of savannah, the roads felt long, their backs and legs ached. George felt his knees buckle but dream reached an arm out to make sure he didn't fall.

"You okay george?"
"mhm, just tired" George rubbed his eyes
"Look, there's a house there, lets just stop for a second." Sapnap sighed beginning to divert towards the house, he looked through the window and groaned seeing the door was barricaded.

He tapped his axe against the metal garage door, no sound was retaliated to he pulled it up. Inside, a black shiny range rover, papers on the hood and a Z collapsed over the wheel.

Karl picked up the papers, "jeez poor dude had awful luck" he chuckled looking over them
"Why?" Tommy asked leaning against the wall, "Poor guy only signed it off, finally paid it off the day the apocalypse hit. Was probably about to go on his first proper drive before hell broke loose" Karl threw the papers on the floor, discarding them.

"Well, tanks full, no damage, how the hell did someone miss this?" Sapnap laughed pulling the guy out of the car, throwing him to the floor besides the papers, he was mostly bones and ragged clothes anyway.

The strong smell of rotting flesh hit the room due to the door of the car being opened.

Georges legs gave out again, Dream once again caught him.

Dream took the bag from georges shoulder and put it on his own, whilst keeping a friendly arm over him to support him.

"Can we just get in, he's exhausted" Dream gestured to george, a frown beneath his mask.

Sapnap nodded, dream pulled the back door open and assisted george into the car before pulling himself in.

Tommy sat on the far left of the car, george in the middle and dream on the right. Sapnap drove whilst karl sat beside him.

George rested his head back and closed his heavy eyes, dream out the window down and let out a relaxed sigh feeling the wind rush through the back of the car.

It wasn't long before georges head found its way onto dreams shoulder.

"Hey karl, in my bag there's like some CD's- burners i've had since the start. Could you get one out, there should be a small cd player with a usb cord in it if you could grab that to" Sapnap smiled looking briefly to karl before looking back at the road
"Yeah- sure" Karl ruffled through sapnaps bag, eventually finding a CD and the player.

He attached the cord into the USB port in the car before sliding the cd in.

Sign of the times by harry styles began to play, it sounded crackled at the start yet it eased in.

"Karl you managed to pick the best CD out of the five i have" Sapnap smiled, tapping the steering wheel along to the tune as the car sped through the empty streets
"I remember this song" Tommy chuckled
"You were like 13 when it came out right?"
"More like 11 or 12 i don't know" Tommy shrugged
"nice" karl looked out of his window at the trees that sped past.

"Me and Dream used to listen to this song like- all the time, he loved it. Aint that right dream" Sapnap giggled as he reminisced the past
"Dream?" He cocked his head back slightly keeping his eyes on the road, karl turned over noticing how dreams mask rode up the right side of his face slightly. His head was rested on top of georges and he seemed to be asleep

"He's asleep" Karl chuckled turning back to sapnap.
"Good, the guy barely sleeps" Sapnap smiled focusing back on the music

A few hours of driving and george and dream were since awake, they'd changed Cd's twice and teenagers by MCR began to play.

"Oh god, Nicks going through his emo stage again" Dream yelled
"Emo stage? I ain't had no damn emo stage in my life" Sapnap yelled back as the song played
"i mean- it's a good song" Karl chuckled
"People actually listened to this shit??" Tommy covered his ears, the volume was extremely high, something they didn't mind doing when driving at such fast speeds.

A road sign caught karls eye, "THIS IS MY HOMETOWN" He yelled over the music

Sapnap turned the song off completely, the car now was in an unfamiliar silence.

"We're in north carolina right?" George pulled out a paper map from his back and looked over it, marking down in pencil where theyd been so far, tracking their route.

"Yeah- holy- my house isn't far from here" Karl looked out of the window eagerly
"Looks a mess" Tommy said, his face showing disgust as they looked at the torn down houses, eventually passing a park which was embarrassingly destroyed.

"When were you here last?" Sapnap asked as they slowly drove down the street.
"Not since the start- I left the first week everything kicked off"
"Take a left!" Karl interrupted himself

Sapnap shook his head and turned, before karl eventually yelled to stop.

They were outside a white house, a gentle white porch with a brown chair on it which had been knocked over, blood over the front door and messy net curtains dangling from the window.

"This is it" Karl mumbled getting out of the car.
