A Lovely Mess

Day 6

George wiped his eyes feeling dream beneath him, he must've fallen asleep on top of him as they were cuddling.

"Dream" he groaned rolling off of him and onto the empty side of the bed, the sheets felt cold beneath him. He kept his eyes closed just a little longer just to feel like things were slightly normal, yet he opened them revealing the cracked ceiling, he inhaled deeply as the smell of mould and damp caused his nostrils to flare.

"Dreammmm" He dragged it out as he rolled onto his side to face him, he quickly fell quiet as his eyes hit him.

For the first time in what felt like forever, dream looked peaceful, he even seemed to be smiling in his sleep. George found himself brushing a hand over Dreams cheek, the tip of his finger running down the end of dreams scar.

He pushed dreams hair back, and leant down slightly to plant a kiss on his cheek, just below his scar before pulling away, he tapped his face slightly "Come on, wake up now" he chuckled

Dream let out out a groan, yet was quick to sit up.

"We should get going" Dream said stretching his back and arms as he stood grabbing his mask.

George shook his head at dreams urgency. He stood and walked over to him, grabbing his hand.

"Just relax for a second" George chuckled, he brushed his thumb against dreams hand.

"Bit hard when the worlds a shithole" Dream sighed

"You used to be the most chill guy i knew"

"Things change george" Dream smiled

"You're almost the same as before"

"I'm not the man that i once was" Dream let out a sigh, almost as if he was ashamed of who he had become.

"you're changing everyday dream, we all are" george brought his hand to dreams cheek, brushing his thumb against it, dream quickly eased into the touch.

Dream stared into georges eyes, the deep browns capturing him, almost swallowing him whole.

"George you've got eyes that could tear me down"

"What's that supposed to mean"

"I'm not sure, they're just-" Dream paused for a second to find the correct word "- beautiful"

"i think you're beautiful- perfection" George smiled

"I'm not perfect, but you are just so perfect" Dream brought Georges hand to his lips planting a kiss against his knuckles.

"what's up with you being so sweet today" George smiled releasing his hand from dreams grip

Dream shrugged, "i suppose i'm not as scared to show that i care now"

"I'm glad" Georges wrapped his arms around dreams waist, resting his head on his chest.

a pounding on the door was heard "get a move on you two, we don't have all day" sapnap yelled.

Dream smiled pulling away putting his mask on, grabbing his bag and wrapping it over his shoulder.

They'd been driving for around six hours now, they'd just hit the border of Iowa, george was asleep against dream whilst tommy tapped his knees to the beat of the song playing, karl and sapnap were singing along.

It was pompeii by bastille, the group were in their element. Until a harsh bump hit the car edging it into the grass, they all let out a yell as the car hit against a tree, sapnap looked up seeing another car speed off.

"The hell was that!" George exclaimed waking up
"Some fucker just ran us off the road" Sapnap yelled
"Just keep driving-" Dream said
"Ain't no damn way i'm letting that slide, i'll kill the fuckers" Sapnap pulled back onto the road and began driving

"Is that really the best idea?" Tommy asked
"Shut up tommy, let the adults speak" Sapnap snapped
"Only trying to help" Tommy raised his hands in defence

"Sapnaps right- we can't let them get away with it what if they come for us in the future" George frowned looking between them all as the car sped up
"Well driving like a fucking idiot is only going to get us killed so slow the fuck down nick" Dream tutted, sapnap listened and slowed down slightly, they were still going rather fast.

"where even are we" karl asked looking out of the window at the now town-like area they drove through

George pulled out his map and observed it, "uh by the looks of it we should be in-" he paused making a marking in pencil "cedar rapids!" he exclaimed

"cedar rapids?" Karl looked around hanging his head out of the window

"iowa then" Sapnap bit his bottom lip looking about as he drove.

"There ain't no Z's" Dream observed.
"Yeah- you're right surely there would've been atleast one by now" George looked over out of the window.
"Somethings not right" tommy said, feeling on edge.

Sapnap pulled up and the group got out of the car

"Let's just loot whilst it's quiet" He said pulling his bag over his shoulder and beginning to walk off, karl made a little jog to catch up to him, their hands briefly brushing against eachother. Tommy also decided to join them leaving george and dream alone.

"So why do you think it's so quiet" george asked as he walked beside dream
Dream shrugged, "never seen anything like it"
"what's that?" tommy stopped pointing up at a hand painted banner that hung from an overpass.

"Don't know, don't care, come on" sapnap continued to walk. However dream stopped to observe it.

The banner was splatted with yellows, blues and reds. In bold white, "JOIN EL RAPIDS TODAY; RECRUITING NOW" A painting of a man, an outline even beside the writing. A firm logo of some type of bird at the bottom.

"What's got you so distracted today, get your ass over here dream" Sapnap gestured his arm and dream looked down from the poster over to his friends before running over.

Instinctively he grabbed Georges hand, Sapnap opened the door to a building, an old warehouse for some type of supermarket. George shut the door as he was the last to enter.

The sound of a can hitting the floor alerted the group, they all looked up in confusion. that was until a thick smoke began to rise from the can.

"The fucks that!" Sapnap exclaimed pulling his shirt over his nose.

George reached out for dream grabbing his hand, tommy was the first to fall.

Sapnap grabbed karl and slowly they all fell
