Avery gathered everyone he could find, and they all packed into a large cyclops extended with a few sea truck sleeping modules. Using the emergency escape route, they drove the cyclops to the primary research platform and through the Altera portal.

"This place is The same since when I was a kid," Sam said to Robin. There were roads and paved areas everywhere. Every square inch as far as the eye could see was either covered in building or road or other paved area. There were even skyways. The tallest building was the TSF headquarters. It was a tall white building, and at the top was a planet with multiple rounds and rungs going around it.

Sam looked around. She saw fear and worry in the faces of her fighters, but more than that she saw strength, and courage, determination, and honor.

"This is what we've all been training for," she said. Not a sound could be heard and all eyes were focused on her.

"I'm not one for big speeches," she began, "just remember that it didn't have to be this way." Heads were nodding and there were murmurs of agreement.

"This isn't my war, this is our war!" Sam was warming up, and the murmurs became shouts.

"Now it's time to show them that we will not be ignored! That we will not be abused!" Sam was standing now, flushed. She turned towards the door. "Now take back your lives!"

The shouts turned into a roar of cheers as everyone lined up to leave the cyclops as Avery equipped them all with iron blasters and other miscellaneous weapons.

Entering the TSF building, Sam pulled up short. "Riley, I need a report," she said.

"The guards outside were a cinch," Riley replied. "A simple smoke bomb and they were out like a light."

"Excellent. You and Maida can put on those guard uniforms and stand watch outside.

Sam turned and started to take in her surroundings. It looked like a concrete prison. Straight ahead was a long damp dark gray hallway, but instead of jail cells there were dingy metal doors. One of the doors was marked with: Precursor Experimentation Site.

"That must be where they're holding Al-An." Sam moved forward and used a laser cutter to cut open the door. Kicking open the hole she created, she found a room that looked like a concrete metal torture chamber. On the walls were vials of red and yellow blood, and there were miscellaneous cutting and surgical tools on the tables, all incredibly rusty. In the center of the room was a large table outfitted with all manner of chains and straps. On that table, she found Al-An. He was not moving, the light of his face dim, and almost out.

"Please don't die," Sam whispered as she bent low over the body. "I promise I'll come back for you."

Sam straightened, stalked out of the room, and headed for the end of the hallway. At the end of the hallway was a room entitled, CHARTER, KEEP OUT! Breaking into the room, she quickly stole the charter and dashed out again.

"This has to come in handy somehow." Sam's face hardened. "Let's go," she said to her team. "We've got a war to win."

One week later, the battle was over. It ended because too many people on both sides were dying of Kharaa.

"I think I know who is behind this" Avery said. They all rushed back to 4546B and into Mason's lab.

"What do you want!" Mason shouted.

"We want to know why you're doing this," exclaimed Sam.

"Because Mr. Winchester told me to." Mason dropped his eyes to the floor.

"Oh, Mr. Winchester, the head of Otero! when are we gonna meet this famous Mr. Winchester? Sam's voice dripped with sarcasm.

"Very soon, I should hope," said a soft voice. Sam whirled around in time to see Julia Catherine emerging from the darkness.

"Julia!" Robin and Sam said in unison.

"Well if it isn't the Ayou sisters," Julia said, a shadow passing over her face. "I don't mean to ruin this sweet reunion, but you five are coming with me."

Sam shouted, "Cue the smoke bomb, Avery!" Suddenly, the lab was filled with thick, black smoke. The five friends took advantage of the confusion to rush out of the lab.
