(Olivia's POV)
We've been back from Louis' for two days now. I'm grateful to Jeff for supplying us with this much-needed break.
However, since songs are such an important part of my identity and life, I won't be able to go this long without writing some. Still, for the time being, I haven't said much about them, and I want to keep it that way before I write any more decent ones.
Anyway, we just finished eating our meal, which was cooked by mum. We're now sitting on the sofa, enjoying Ben & Jerry's ice cream while watching a movie, as we often do.
"May I speak with you for a moment, honey?" I could hear my mother talking next to me.
"Yes, mum," I reply, still not sure what she's talking about.
"Upstairs, honey," she says as she went up the stairs.
I follow.
Mum said, "Sit," as she goes to the closet. From the way she is rummaging through it, it seems that she is taking something from there. When she actually pulls out a small, rectangular box, she huffs.
She shut the cupboard and sits down beside me, facing me.
"I've been wanting to give this to you for quite some time now, Olivia." She starts.
I nod, waiting for her to continue.
"Do you remember your grandmother, Olivia?" With a tender feeling in her eyes, she inquires.
"Yes, mum." I say.
Yes, I do. My grandmother comes to mind. She played a significant role in my life. She was a sweet, calm lady who looked just like my mother. She was the one who always knew what I was going through, gave me the best advice when I needed it, and always knew what to say at the right time. Unfortunately, she died when I was 14 years old. She was already 86, and I saw it coming, but that didn't make up for the sadness I felt when I found out she wasn't.
"She offered this to me. The only thing she said to me was this. She handed it to me and asked me to give it to someone I can trust with my soul, death, illness, and sadness. And it's you, sweetheart. Since your father abandoned me, you are the only one in whom I place my faith." Tears welled up in her eyes as she articulates herself. "However, there is one thing I'd like you to do." She goes ahead.
"Mummy, what do I have to do?" I put my palm on her hand as I whisper quietly.
"I'd like you to gift this to someone who makes you feel at home when you're not at home. The person who is extraordinary. And I'm telling you this now because you've already gained knowledge and understand what I mean when I say 'extraordinary'. Can you take care of it for me?" She says gently, taking my hand in hers.
"Mummy, I've got it. I'll take care of it." I am honest in my words.
She gives me the box with a gentle smile and motions for me to open it.
I take my time opening it. It's a necklace.
A pearl necklace.
I embrace her goodbye and walk out of the room.

I skip down to the garden and sit down on the swing. The sky is partly gloomy, the temperature is cool, and there are cold breezes to complement the atmosphere. It is about to pour, either now or later in the evening. It is in the scent of the breeze.
