Mayday! (A Ghost Town Fanfiction)

Did I like him?

My eyes slowly opened. How long had I dosed off for? My left hand was ice cold, but my right hand was rather warm and heavy. The clock about the television said it was 12, and by the light coming through the window I assumed it was noon. The room was still empty but the tv was off.

I went to stretch my arms but I was held back. Kevin's hand was wrapped around mine in a sort of death grip. For an short instant I was happy, but that happiness soon grew to tension. Kevin was still asleep and holding my hand, somebody had been in the room to shut of the tv, and I had been out for who knows how many hours. Somebody was bound to have seen it.

"Kevin." I shook my hand loosely.

He grunted but didn't move.

"Kevin I need to pee."

He gave what I can only imagine was a sigh and let my hand drop against the side of the chair. I walked to the bathroom and forced myself to pee. For a moment I leaned against the wall. Did Kevin actually like me? Like, like like me? Did I like him?

"Hey Kevin!" Alisters voice rang.

I took a deep breath and walked out. "Hey Alister." I gave a forced smile.

He nodded in acknowledgement. "How're you feeling?" He asked Kevin.

Kevin motioned to the white board. Alisters note was still on it and Kevin attempted a smile in response. He wiped the page clean with his arm and scribbled.

Numb

"Just numb?" Alister asked.

Kevin gave a thumbs up.

"How long is he here for?" He turned to me.

"Not sure yet."

"Everything will be alright Alix."

"I know." I mumbled and looked to my feet. At least I hoped.

"Maybe we should-"

Chhmmhmm

We turned to Kevin who had scribbled on the board again.

I need to pee

"I'll let you help with that" Alister laughed and sat in the recliner.

I assisted Kevin into a seated position where he had to sit a moment before attempting to stand. He hobbled beside me into the tiny bathroom. This time, as I helped him stand, I stole a downward glance.
