The Boy From The Basement

Prologue

There have been many unusual assumptions as to what happened to the McLennan Family. In 2001, 19 years ago, Mrs Samantha McLennan and Mr Mike McLennan got married.
After a year of marriage, Mrs McLennan became pregnant. However, after the news was released to the town, the McLennan couple went silent, and no one heard anything about them, or saw them for several months. It was only then that people became suspicious of their whereabouts.

Shortly, after a long and quiet 8 months, they announced sadly that Mrs McLennan had a miscarriage. The town was distraught by this news, and everyone did their best to comfort the newly wedded couple.
Then after 5 months, Mrs McLennan announced that she was once again pregnant. This time, the pregnancy successfully followed through and Mrs McLennan proudly announced that she had given birth to a tiny baby boy, Beau George McLennan.
After announcing her child's birth, Mrs McLennan was not seen again for 2 months, nor was her child or her husband.

It was then a warm, dark summer night when Mr Carlton, one of the McLennan's neighbours, claimed that he had seen a women running through the streets, holding what appeared to be a small newborn child. He watched as the lady ran out of town and into the dry summer night.
The next day, Mr Carlton confronted every house in the neighbourhood.
When he turned up at Mr McLennan's door, he apparently appeared depressed and distraught. He sadly confessed to Mr Carlton about how last night his wife and son went missing. 5 days later, Mrs McLennan's mobile phone was found at the shore of Iris Lake. No one ever heard from Mrs McLennan again. Her child was also no where to be found.

Mr McLennan later moved away, after months of dealing with this loss. The McLennan family was shortly forgotten, however the secrets and suspicions that revolved around them still remained common discussion within the town...
